Cultural protectionism in Caribbean copied and pasted with some edits from Canadian cultural protectionism[edit]

Bit odd. Doubly given the added references. Prosody (talk) 08:48, 21 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted it. Crazytonyi (talk) 19:48, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dubious article[edit]

This article is very dubious and is written from the perspective of someone who has very little knowledge of the Caribbean besides what is found in textbooks etc. The article needs input from an expert on Caribbean culture, preferably one who has actually experienced the culture. Nowhere does the author of the current article as it is make any mention of the variations in culture even within the Caribbean itself or even mentions the countries that are included in the Caribbean. As much as the Caribbean falls under one umbrella there are considerable and unique differences within each territory. The scope of the material needed for this article has not even been scratched as yet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by EagerToddler39 (talkcontribs) 23:54, 18 July 2012

Dubious article 2[edit]

I saw these types of articles being written quite a few years ago. You cannot have an article on "Caribbean Culture" because no such thing exist. The same way you cannot have a article on Caribbean food, because the Caribbean is actually too diverse. The difference lies in European colonization and the culture that came out of that. Post 1960's the Western European Caribbean colonies (UK, France, Netherlands) and past colonies developed into a similar culture due to similarities, and immigration through indenture ship. This did not extend to Latin Caribbean countries. So by Globalization in the late 1990's their was two distinctive dominant features of Caribbean cultures, if you want to call it that. One centered around Anglo Caribbean countries and its interaction with French and Dutch colonies, and the Latin Caribbean countries where there was not much exchange of culture and had a Spanish influenced culture as its most dominant feature. The exception was Cuba and its Socialist influence. The cultural exchange with Latin Caribbean countries was mostly a one way exchange of Anglo Caribbean culture by workers that went to Latin Caribbean countries. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Starbwoy (talkcontribs) 22:52, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Caribbean humour[edit]

Another editor tagged the section "Caribbean humour" as requiring more information; I have added {{Expand section}} on his/her behalf. The original edit summary said, "After reading this section I am no further forward in understanding Caribbean humour, apart from at the end where it points towars political and cultural satire, but does not give examples."
