Pictures[edit]

Does anyone have pictures of Crown. This article is in need of them. Marlith 01:03, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can take some when I go back after spring break. Any requests for specific pictures? Post on my talk page too in case I miss it here. --Phoenix Hacker (talk) 23:40, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Name[edit]

I've been trying to track down the ultimate origin of the name, but have reached a bit of a dead end. I'll give my findings here and see if anyone wants to pick it up from there. It seems the college's construction was partially paid for by the Crown Zellerbach Foundation, a part of the paper company Crown-Zellerbach. (http://crown.ucsc.edu/about/index.html) That company was the result of a merger involving Crown Willamette Paper Company (http://www.nndb.com/company/779/000117428/), which was the result of a merger involving Crown Columbia Paper Company (http://www.ccrh.org/comm/camas/millhist.htm), which was the result of a merger involving Crown Paper Company (of Oregon City, OR) (same page). That company seems to have been founded as a paper mill there in 1890 (http://www.orcity.org/planning/brief-history-oregon-city). I can't seem to find anything that says who Crown was (or whether it was just a fictitious business name or what). Atario (talk) 22:11, 23 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
