Paragraph requiring editing[edit]

"The village has a mill which has since been converted to a restaurant. The second recorded \Mill some time about 1880. The site of the first since the burn, Culter Water, was diverted to its present course is unknown."

The above paragraph came about through the addition of material in 2009 and was, unfortunately, not checked adequately by the author. I do not feel qualified to make a correction. --Oldontarian (talk) 14:47, 25 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Folk etymology[edit]

"Some old maps and local modern houses also have the spelling Cootyre - "a safe place for cow" - this is folk etymology. It is a Celtic name.
