The article metallurgical converter refers to the equipment used to accomplish the process in this article. I don't see a real need to have two different articles. It makes sense to me to discuss the equipment for the process in the same article. Wizard191 (talk) 19:28, 5 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Relation to smelting correct?[edit]

The article describes conversion as a type of smelting, but shouldn't it be described as a type of refining instead? The specific processes even describe them as such, and none of the converters work on raw ores. The steelmaking ones convert pig iron and the Manhès–David process refines matte into blister copper.
