Actually it is a matter of exemption for certain groups of people, partly based on ethnicity and religious practice. No idea about other countries; how many of them have conscription? Dori1951 (talk) 09:49, 15 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Both India and Pakistan recruit by religious and ethnic quotas and some other countries, such as Lebanon, recruit to curb the dominance of certain ethnic groups or to ensure all ethnic groups participate. ----Degen Earthfast (talk) 18:24, 6 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
