Conn Selmer Strike[edit]

What is the current situation with the UAW 364 strike at the Vincent Bach plant in Elkhart. They are having a reunion celebration after being on strike for three years now. What is the latest information? Instrument maker (talk) 18:09, 20 March 2009 (UTC) The UAW local 364 was officially decertified as of July 30, 2009 with only 70 workers having gone back inside during the strike and no workers being recalled after the union was decertified.[reply]

President John Stoner told the press that during the strike the "business was deteriorating and that somehow he had to get the business on track", he believes he as accomplished that today.

Worker wages were slashed after the union was decertified in July of 2009. This according to Stoner enable him to bring back the student line production from Asia. The lose of doing student line horns in America before the strike was $10 per instrument.

Stoner relates that during the strike quality complaints were averaging 480 per month two years after the strike, now brought down to 23 a month.

The Strike along with the recession continues to have effects on the rebound of the Vincent Bach facility.

Logos in infobox[edit]

The two logos in the infobox are not svg-files as they should be in the infobox. The two logos are jpg-file and png-file, and both files should be converted to svg-files. --JAL78 (talk) 13:19, 9 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

forgive my ignorance but what is wrong with the clear and appropriate logo image that I believe you provided? Is there an advantage to vector graphics formats that most normal users will not be able to directly utilize, contrary to the open access philosophy of wikipedia, as opposed to jpg, bmp and other readily accessible and usable formats? At least we can have jpg files on wikipedia. The audio formats allowed will not even play for the vast majority of users (myself included). The logos in the infobox must be svg-files to meat the standards of Wikipedia. I think it maybe has something to do with the problem, that a jpg-file has a white background and the infobox should have a grey background all over the place. --JAL78 (talk) 07:49, 10 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Disconnect[edit]

The "Founding" paragraph of the "History" section of this article, by a somewhat detailed description of Henri Selmer's founding of the company Henri Selmer of Paris appears to suggest that the founding of Henri Selmer is in some way the founding of Conn-Selmer, which is a U.S. company. This seems to be misleading. The Conn-Selmer company website seems to say that Conn-Selmer is simply the exclusive U.S. distributor of Henri Selmer musical instruments. There is a subsidiary of Conn-Selmer which is simply called Selmer, which apparently was founded by a brother of Henri Selmer who had moved (temporarily?) to the U.S. and had his own skill in making musical instruments. Could the original author of this article at their convenience clarify these matters? They are I think interesting and relevant to the article.
