Disadvantages of Composite Bats section[edit]

I disagree with the claim that the quieter sound that hits from a composite bat make is a disadvantage. When a ball is hit with a wood or an aluminum bat, the entire fielding team knows it instantly, due to the loud "crack" (wood bats) or "ping" (aluminum bats). The quieter sound a hit from a composite bat makes gives the batsman an advantage -- the fielding team must see the hit and respond (which may not happen). The sources cited in this section do not say that the quieter sound of a composite bat is a disadvantage -- they say that batters may perceive their hits to be softer than those from wood or aluminum bats due to the quieter sound of the composite. On a personal note, in my 30+ years on the field in amateur softball competition, a well-hit ball from either style bat always made sufficient noise to alert the outfield. All that to say that I do not think the quantity of sound is related necessarily to the bat material but more likely reflects the quality of the strike upon the ball. As for responding to the hit, if one is not going to pay very close attention to the batter during the pitch, one should NOT be on the field IMHO! :-) JimScott (talk) 17:18, 3 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Blacklisted Links Found on the Main Page[edit]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.
