Started page[edit]

Somehow the more minor wheat species were getting pages ahead of this. Have made a start; will return after doing some more work on the main wheat page. I can add more on evolution and early history. Any cereal scientists who can add more on food properties?

I'll also add a paragraph on transgenic wheat - an interesting story, with Monsanto withdrawing their products. Mark Nesbitt 13:19, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

it would be nice[edit]

I don't know enough to add to this, but it would be nice if "recent history" didn't imply that North America is the only place worth talking about. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.9.158.196 (talk) 10:07, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Triticum spp, all ready has an extensive history on wheat, maybe merge that into here or revere to it...?? Scubafish (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 14:20, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

a topic of the cultivar nomenclature has been added based on the following....[edit]

I have removed the added section "Nomenclature and taxonomy of the variety and its cultivars; Further information: Taxonomy of wheat; This section requires expansion." as it does not add any information to this article. The heading is also confusing - common wheat is usually regarded as a species or subspecies, not variety. And the link to Taxonomy of wheat is irrelevant as that article just deals with species level classification. I agree it would be useful to have a section on cultivar and landrace classification, but that's a complex subject... Mark Nesbitt (talk) 07:08, 5 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
