I'm pretty sure that Alemán Coloniero is not the most commonly spoken language there. From all I've read about Alemannic in Venezuela, it is nearly extinct there. Anyone know more? --Chlämens 03:11, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

Why would you see waitresses in Bavarian costumes when the immigrants originally came from the Black Forest, which is nowhere near Bavaria? Or is that used to lure in tourists without making a distinctions as to where the costume comes from? --Chlämens 18:07, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

The article reeks of copypaste from an unknown source (waitresses "hawking" Black Forest cake??) and the author probably mistook Black Forest traditional dress for Bavarian... -- megA (talk) 17:38, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

German language

I've just read in a recent magazine that, contrary what the article claims (citing a 20 years old source), there are indeed many people in Colonia Tovar who can and do speak German. (According to the German article, there are 3000 speakers in C. T. and 16,000 in the region, with the language having had a renaissance as a cultural heritage in recent years.) I won't put it in, since, well, it's a magazine, but perhaps someone could come up with some sources...

EDIT: This, for example, is from the spanish article: "Aunque el idioma oficial de Venezuela es el castellano, el idioma mayoritario en Colonia Tovar es el alemannisch: alemánico, precisamente el alemán coloniero." Does not fit the definition of colony for categorization

For categorization purposes a colony is a place controlled by one country beyond its regualr borders. Colonia Tovar was settled by immigrants from Baden, but it was clearly part of Venezuela at the time.John Pack Lambert (talk) 16:47, 21 November 2012 (UTC)
