Verification[edit]

I've tidied up this article and tried to make it read more fluidly. I have also added links to many of the people, places, titles and events. However, I cannot verify on wikipedia whether Margaret Seton married into the Elphinstone family; whether the name Elphinstone derives from the area in which the family lived or the other way around (the article is not clear on this matter); or whether many Border clans are indeed descended from the Swintons.
