Aargh; finding sources for this is frustrating, but the Concise Encyclopedia Britannica convinces me that such sources exist in print, going back to 1710 or earlier. This source gives the following list of spellings/names for the ethnic group's language: "Bouyei", "Alternate names: Buyi, Bui, Bo-I, Buyei, Buyui, Puyi, Pui, Pu-I, Pu-Jui, Pujai, Puyoi, Dioi, Tujia, Shuihu, Zhongjia, Chung-Chia". With that many spellings, completing this is beyond my abilities. GRBerry 03:47, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've added an expert request. I'm convinced that there are dead-tree sources, but am not sufficiently knowledgable on Chinese subjects to sort out the various possible transliterations/spellings/names for the ethnic group to do the research myself. GRBerry 14:14, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
