Position[edit]

The position of Tutshill Halt is easy; it's shown on OS maps available online.

The position of the original station (Chepstow East) is more difficult; this website states "located at the end of the cutting, halfway up a cliff overlooking the Wye" - but which end of the cutting? "up a cliff" suggests the western end, but MacDermot states "at the road bridge close to the present junction of the Wye Valley Branch, about a mile east of Chepstow Station", which suggests the eastern end of the cutting - the western end being just over a quarter mile from Chepstow station. I've gone with MacDermot in setting the grid ref; but if correct, all the route diagrams will need amendment to exchange these two stations. Worse, there's a slight possibility that C.E. station was also east of the Wye Valley junction; we need more sources. --Redrose64 (talk) 20:34, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
