Notability[edit]

This pub company has been in the papers almost constantly since the end of last year, as part of the biggest pub / restaurant business in the UK employing 17,000 people with various big restructuring plans - why is that not of interest? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Creativecog (talkcontribs) 13:42, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

To quote WP:CORP:

An organization is generally considered notable if it has been the subject of significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources. Trivial or incidental coverage of a subject by secondary sources is not sufficient to establish notability. All content must be verifiable. If no independent, third-party, reliable sources can be found on a topic, then Wikipedia should not have an article on it.

You need to find the significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources and then get some information extracted from there into the article.

Chef & Brewer is a chain of around 127 licensed traditional pub restaurants in the United Kingdom, owned by Punch Taverns. They are known for serving traditional pub food, including Sunday lunch, pies, cod & chips and steaks which are among the most popular choices.

Following the merger of Grand Met and Guinness, to form Diageo in 1991, Chef & Brewer pubs were bought by Scottish & Newcastle in 1993 in a part cash, part debentures deal of £708 million. In 2003, Scottish & Newcastle auctioned off the Chef & Brewer chain, which was acquired by the Spirit Group. In 2005 the Spirit Group was acquired by Punch Taverns.

There is nothing notable there. Jezhotwells (talk) 14:09, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's notable enough to warrant a short article. It stinks of corporate PR at present though. --Ef80 (talk) 17:20, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
