Article title[edit]

I don't think the article is titled appropriately. At the very least, it's ambiguous, as there exists another town with the name. And which form is more common: Chandi, Chan Di, Chan Dee, or Chandee? Paul 012, do you have any ideas here? – Uanfala (talk) 13:39, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The official spelling of geographical names usually follows the RTGS by default, which in this case might be Chandi or Chan Di, depending on etymology (more likely the former), but the municipality actually uses Chandee on its website, so there doesn't seem to be a clear answer here. (Personally I prefer Chandi.) Potapt might have a better idea than I do. As for disambiguation, past discussions haven't led to a common guideline, but since the name is unique within Thailand but ambiguous internationally, Chandi, Thailand should be adequate. --Paul_012 (talk) 15:52, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The etymology of the name จันดี is still unknown. Some try to relate it to candi and others relate it to Canḍī or Caṇḍī, the name of a legendary queen, but these explanations remain unproven. I think the RTGS spelling Chandi would be fine since the form จันดี itself doesn't carry any other meaning that would make sense in Thai anyway (none that I can think of). --Potapt (talk) 16:24, 1 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
