Chandi as Parvati wife of Siva[edit]

Someone has been repeatedly changing the first paragraph to say that Candi is an aspect of Parvati and is the consort of Siva. Candi is envisaged as the Supreme Reality and the conglomeration of the powers of all Gods including Siva in Devi Mahatmya. Frustrating.--Sankarrukku (talk) 11:52, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chandi is considered as Supreme reality in Devi Mahatmya. Elsewhere, Chandi is considered as an epithet of Durga or Kali or Parvati. This second opinion should also be included. Move page to Chandi[edit]

IMO, the article's name should Chandi (the usual spelling in English), and not the IAST Caṇḍī like the FA Ganesha is named so and not Ganeśa.--Redtigerxyz (talk) 17:12, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article was named Caṇḍī because the name Chandi was redirecting to Durga. I had made a request in the Hinduism-related topics notice board.

I would like to created a page on Caṇḍī or Chandi, the name of the Goddess who is the ultimate reality in Devi Mahatmyam. There is no page with the name Caṇḍī. However Chandi which is the common usage for this deity redirects to Durga. This needs to be undone.
I would welcome suggestions as to how I can go about it.

Mantra[edit]

This Mantra is called Chandi Navakshari. Any book on Mantra would testify to this. Chamundai does not mean Chamunda. Of course you will not believe me. I had written the article to provide information to the user on the net. I find that I have to spend a lot of time trying to convince the other Wikipedians who count. It is just not worth the effort. By the basic knowedledge of Sanskrit, anyone can tell that cāmuṇḍayāi is the dative singular of Chamunda and not Chandi. [1] [2]--Redtigerxyz (talk) 04:54, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mantra is not language, but meta-language and therefore does not function like a word. Unlinked shortened footnotes[edit]

The article has shortened footnotes but these are not linked to any citations. Furthermore, there is a variety of citation styles. Most do not use citation templates, but many of the references do use them.

To link the shortened footnotes, I will employ citation templates as per WP:CITEVAR, as this is the easiest way to provide citations to which the {{sfn}} template can link. I will also add bibliographic & other parameters as appropriate. Peaceray (talk) 02:21, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
