Unique event?[edit]

Chained Murders of Iran is a very important event in the contemporary history of Iran. Therefore it has been widely discussed in Iran. The event is about killing "intellectuals, researchers and top writers and philosophers" (some thing NEW). It should not be mixed with murdering exile military opposition groups like KDP and Mujahideen (nothing NEW).

Those who have been killed were respected academics like Ahmad Tafazzoli etc. They were active researchers and University lecturers. This is the main point that made the event a memorable one in Iranian history. Fooladin 20:46, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • It doesn't matter who opposes the Islamic Republic; anyone who does is history - be it a Nobel prize winner or a run-of-the-mill secularist.

Killing secular scholars is nothing new. It was done 1980-1982 during the Islamic Cultural Revolution.--Patchouli 05:11, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Any one who does is history but does not necessarily carry the name! The title of this article in Iranian history refers to serial killing of intellectuals, some thing that no body expected 20 years after the cultural revolution. Iranian regime always killed military opposition groups. They never hide it. Military opposition groups are terrorists. And there is a different between militant groups and scholars in the University !!! As I said the event is so important in Iranian history that numerous articles and books have been written in Persian and in Iran about it. The version of the article that you are insisting on is not accurate. Wrong statements will not long last in wikipedia. Fooladin 18:17, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

People expect it today as a matter of of course for "intellectuals". No wonder those interviewed in Iran sound like Islamic Republic sycophants.--Patchouli 18:45, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry but I guess you have very superficial understanding about the subject. Please do not push for vandalism. The text written by Iranians on this matter is by far more reliable, simply because they have a deeper understanding about the subject. Please do not insult Iranians. Title[edit]

The title of this article is possibly POV. I would suggest a change to whatever was used most commonly in the news. Khodavand 02:28, 24 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is the English Wikipedia. Literal translations are not usually a good idea. "Chained murders" is not proper English. Also, about capitalizing each word of an article, see the manual of style. This is not the same issue as Iran-Iraq War. If you have doubts, go ask a few admins. Khodavand 23:28, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why were these events called 'chained murders'? It is not explained why in the article. 145.253.108.22 17:47, 10 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Qatle Zanjiri in Persian means "Serial Murders" or Serial Killings. Any literal translation shouls reflect that 128.112.203.222 20:02, 4 February 2007 (UTC) Ordakian[reply]

We keep both due to English news reports.--Patchouli 11:23, 5 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

According to my dictionary (ISBN 0-936347-95-3), serial means posht sare-ham while chain means zanjir.--Patchouli 18:21, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Chain murder means the first victims were strangled found. A firm term in the Iranian media (de:) --80.131.19.14 16:08, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Any relationship to unexplained murders and attacks in US and world?[edit]

Iranian press outlets such as PressTV and affiliated US outlets such as Veterans Today and the willyloman blog blame are blaming the series of unexplained attacks with no obvious motive from Fort Hood to Columbine to Sandy Hook, Benghazi, Brevik and Aurora Colorado on "false flag" attacks by agencies either unspecified or tied to Israel or pro-zionist national intelligence agencies. Is it possible that a nation-state intelligence agency capable of executing these chain murders internally could recruit attackers to commit acts of terrorism that can be blamed on random mental issues or lack gun controls, and is spreading disinformation to hide their own involvement in these attacks? Few in the west outside of Iran have ever heard of these murders.Redhanker (talk) 01:50, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
