Deletion?[edit]

This is a prime example of bots gone wrong. This article is on the Central Florida Future, the Student-Run newspaper of the University of Central Florida. It is a de facto student organization as only students may work there and happens to be owned by Gannet. This paper has been around since the beginning of classes at UCF. The article is similar to other college newspaper articles in its goals.

Ok, I appolgize for not realizing that the speedy deletion request was not done by a bot. Its just it happened so quickly, thats what I could only think of it being. I think this could really develop into an excellent article but its going to take people from the UCF community who know more about the history. In addition I think merging it would be determintal to growth of the topic in addition to adding clutter to the already large UCF article.

Also, what would you define as notability? The Future is read by thousands of people per issue and is distributed through hundreds of newspaper boxes. Or are we looking for an event in the history of the paper? I would think as being one of the first student papers purchased by Gannett would count, and I am sure there have been controversies or something along that route that I am not presently aware of. I think that it would be difficult to merge this back into the main UCF article, that article is already very large and the amount of coverage this newspaper requires would be difficult to achieve in that article. This article definetly has a lot of room for expansion, as there were many past events in its history that are pretty significant, such as the editor who made up sources[1] and other significant events in its history. I think given its history, combined with the distribution size of the school paper, and the possibilities for expansion to include more notable topics, its not realistic to merge this, and it should keep its own article.

Merging[edit]

As it stands the article is for a non-notable student newspaper and as such doesn't really justify its own article, but it makes perfect sense for it to be merged with the university for which it's linked. WebHamster 12:43, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I ahve to disagree with the opinion to merge considering how the paper has a large circulation, is affiliated with the sixth largest university on the United States, played a pivitol role in the early University years, and has been one of the few student newspapers to be owned by a media giant. I know that there is more to the history of the Future that I know other UCF students, alumni and people affiliated with UCF can input on. However, I feel that this article needs to remain seperate so that the subject can grow without cluttering the UCF article. Winwiz88 02:39, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Future Print.jpg[edit]

Image:Future Print.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
