Replace chart with infobox[edit]

The sort of information in the chart would be more appropriately displayed in an infobox.

I lack the technical expertise to create a sufficient infobox. None of the templates seem suitable. Someone who knows how to create a freeform infobox (if that's possible) or a new template, either please advise or please make the edit directly. Deus vult! Note: @JJMC89: this is not the correct use of the {{edit semi-protected}} template, instead try using Template:Help me. --Cameron11598 (Converse) 06:10, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I think you meant to tag me. I put up the edit request. I'll try the other tag. Thanks. Deus vult! Crusadestudent (talk) 06:16, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Roman Catholicism in NigeriaCatholic Church in Nigeria – This is the naming style of many other prominent analogous articles (Catholic Church in the United States, Catholic Church in England, etc.), and is the more appropriate style. Additionally, the page on the universal Church was decisively changed to Catholic Church some time ago, and related pages should follow suit. Deus vult! Crusadestudent (talk) 05:17, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed Seems straight forward and makes sense --Cameron11598 (Converse) 06:11, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I see that {{Infobox Christian branch}} is used on e.g. Catholic Church in the United States, would that suffice? Sam Sailor Talk! 07:09, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

That's the best of the ones that exist, but it would leave out a large portion of the info in the chart... Is there a way to do a freeform infobox? Deus vult! Crusadestudent (talk) 07:19, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
We should not be creating a new infobox just to display the information on this specific page. If you can't find a reliable infobox, then keep it as a table. I did find {{Infobox Christian church body}}, which has a few more of the parameters you're looking for, but I doubt that you'll find something that fits all of them.
As a note, a quick check through a few of the Roman Catholic Church in Africa category pages shows that none of them use an infobox, so if you can convince me that all of them should have the same infobox, I'll create one for you. Primefac (talk) 15:02, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Another note - some of the pages use {{infobox diocese}}; will that work? Primefac (talk) 15:05, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Primefac If they were to get infoboxes, they ought to follow the same format and have the same parameters available. And it would work for all the other "Catholic Church in " / "Roman Catholicism in " articles, as well (not just the ones in Africa), which could benefit from an appropriately designed infobox. Something that could capture the ecclesiastical structure, demographics, significant persons (both leaders and just notable individuals), and key historical events. That would be the dream infobox, anyway. Diocese, I think, would be too limiting to ecclesiastical structure alone, though if you were to make a new infobox I'm sure there's a lot you could pull from there. I don't know that I have a compelling argument that the infobox "needs" to be made, but it would make for a nice, concise, and most importantly consistent summary tool for this type of article.
