My edits just now[edit]

I'd like to explain the edits I just made, to avoid any misunderstanding.

For the person born in 1518:

  • I changed "Catherine of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel" to "Catherine of Brunswick and Lunenburg (1518–1574)". I did this because 1) that is how this person is linked in several other articles, and 2) because "Catherine of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel" is an article about a different person. If "Catherine of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel" is a preferable name, then a qualifier should be included to distinguish it from the other article, and the articles linking to "Catherine of Brunswick and Lunenburg (1518–1574)" should be changed to match.
  • Since the above resulted in this entry being a red link, I linked her father's name. This is a standard practice per WP:DabRL.

For the person born in 1741:

  • I unpiped the link because links on dab pages are not piped this way.

I'm changing it back to Catherine of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel except this time with dates because of de:Katharina von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel (1518–1574). Also I placed the dates outside of the link.--Queen Elizabeth II's Little Spy (talk) 22:40, 20 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure what you mean "because of" the German article. Article names on different language Wikipedias do not have to match. In any case, I have again unpiped the entries because entries on dab pages are not to be piped. How about discussing the changes you want here before you make any more? --Auntof6 (talk) 01:28, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I linked all previous links to Catherine of Brunswick and Lunenburg (1518–1574) to Catherine of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, Margravine of Brandenburg-Küstrin and Catherine of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel to Catherine of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, Duchess of Saxe-Lauenburg. English wikipedia doesn't use Brunswick and Lunenburg. Only one user uses that form and was mainly responsible for the all links to anything name of Brunswick and Lunenburg versus the more common and widely excepted form of Brunswick-Lüneburg or Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel. The arguement for this was semi-discussed at Talk:Duchy of Brunswick-Lüneburg and the result was in favor of Brunswick-Lüneburg versus Brunswick-Lunenburg.--Queen Elizabeth II's Little Spy (talk) 01:37, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks, I'm happy as long as the links to any given person are consistent across articles, and the conventions for dab pages are followed. I know I've found articles where the same person is linked under different names; in cases like this, even when they are red links, I try to make them match. --Auntof6 (talk) 01:48, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I saw this article listed on Requests for a third opinion, but I am unclear of the articles in question, could someone please clarify? Thanks. Steven Zhang The clock is ticking.... 02:28, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It was a question of following dab conventions while changing the links to use correct names for the people listed. It might be OK now. --Auntof6 (talk) 15:09, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK, great. Glad to hear it. Steven Zhang The clock is ticking.... 15:31, 21 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
