About links...[edit]

Justlettersandnumbers A quick question about the deleted links here. The private website www.catherinedemontsalvy.ch has also a lot of extra material from the Catherine television series. Shared by Juliette Benzoni (who wrote the screenplay), some of those former stars and Marion Sarraut the director of the series. A lot of interesting material for visitors who look this article up, the television series was very successful. It won a prize in 1985 link to the website, http://www.tastevin-bourgogne.com/fr/ As always we get that information from the private website https://www.catherinedemontsalvy.ch/French/TV_Serie/la-confrerie-des-chevaliers-du-tastevin.htm Yet, if it gets even more complicated with that material concerning violating copyright, could there not been given a link to youtube where we find many clips? Or is that really out of the question? A word about the link to that private website, who shares not only their own photos of the shooting - but loads of photos and articles, the stars of that television series which they bought at Ebay. Should that not also be deleted? Maybe the best place is IMBd for this television series Best Laramie1960 (talk) 16:48, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Again, a quick answer: Laramie1960:
We can only link to video on YouTube if it is officially published there by the copyright owner – otherwise, just as with the newspaper clippings and so on, it is WP:LINKVIO
IMDb is not (normally) a reliable source by our standards, because anyone can post material there and there's no guarantee that any of it is correct – see WP:RS/IMDB.

talk) Alas there is nowhere a video uploaded by FR2, either on Youtube or at Ina.fr. The latter is the official website for French movies and televsion series. Here is a link to that website where three videos about Benzoni's work is uploaded. Yet it is not about Catherine, but about her other series le Gerfaut http://www.ina.fr/recherche/search?search=Juliette+Benzoni About the articles, I can at least give the name and the year and who wrote the article. I will add it here on the talk page so that it can be verified. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Laramie1960 (talkcontribs) 11:30, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

two missing sources[edit]

Hi Curdle you have been busy, and I will help with the sources. Everything can be verified even though the year is now 1986 where no Internet existed! There exist many articles from TV-Guides and also newspapers back from 1985 and 1986. I start with the first two missing sources.

  • The television series Catherine, il suffit d'un amour was only televised in France 1986.citation needed.

To my knowledge there exists no written statement where it says the "Catherine, il suffit d'un amour television series was only once procasted on French television. It is a fact that the television series premiered on 19 March 1986 by Antenne 2. The magazine Télé7Jours, had an article (2 full pages) by Lise Genet: Trois femmes pour le feuilleton le plus long de la télévision. Maybe the sentence should be changed? What I cannot verify is that the series was procast in Poland, I did not find any written source. I believe the User who created the article way back did mention it on this article.I would propose to delete that sentence, even though it was procasted in 2009 - hence the books were the first time published in Poland.

  • Marion Sarraut had at least seen a hundred actresses in her office, when Claudine Ancelot entered.[citation needed] She did not hesitate one moment to give the role to her.

answer to be found in Télé Journal, week 9 until 15 1985 journalist: Pierre Merle pages 85, 86, 87 I will continue tomorrow. Laramie1960 (talk) 22:20, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Curdle sorry to come back to that statement about the actress Claudine Ancelot. It really was written in lots of magazines or newspapers that the director Marion Sarraut wanted C.Ancelot the moment she saw her. I am adding here a link to the article. It is the second one with three pages and shows on the first page the actress. But you have to click on the middle page (middle line) No.86 to find that Sarraut said she did not hesitate one moment to choose her.. The journalist Pierre Merle was interviewing the director. Its the same article who talks about Pierre-Marie Escourrou, who played the hero. link to see the article https://www.catherinedemontsalvy.ch/French/TV_Serie/marion-sarraut-tournage.htm Laramie1960 (talk) 11:03, 9 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

shooting of the series - Claudine Ancelot - Marianne a star for Napoleon[edit]

Hi Curdle

  • The shooting of the Catherine TV series lasted 15 months.[citation needed] Two years of preparation by director Marion Sarraut - 200 actors - fifteen hundred costumes - 45 technicians - 130 horses.

Actually the articles I read say sometimes 15 months of shooting and sometimes 2 years. For me one more time the proof that we cannot always rely on Newspapers all the time! Fake news existed always... With all the preparation before the beginning of the shooting, director Sarraut is quoted that it took 2 years. The newspapers were full of articles in 1985 and 1986. This here is one of the best articles, https://www.catherinedemontsalvy.ch/images/text/Juliette_catherine2.jpg I would propose to use the same reference as No° 2 here. It is exactly that article I gave you the link now.

  • The yet unknown young actress Claudine Ancelot was the perfect Catherine de Montsalvy.[citation needed] She was predestinated to play Catherine - at fifteen she had read the books in the French Newspaper France-Soir where the story of Catherine was first published as a cliffhanger.

I had quoted from the many articles (back from 1985 & 1986) learning that she was the perfect actress for the role. Here is a letter from the ex-actress Claudine Ancelot, talking about her age when she first read the Catherine novels. She sent that to the webmaster via a letter https://www.catherinedemontsalvy.ch/English/Actors/Interviews/ClaudineAncelot_Interview.htm the letter can be read either in English or in French.

  • Juliette Benzoni's Marianne, une étoile pour Napoléon[citation needed] (six books) was the first of the novel series filmed for French television.

Here I recommend to link to the Wikipedia article of Marion Sarraut where all her work is represented. Naturally there exist many articles about that series. The actress Corinne Touzet is still working and a very popular stage and television actress - https://www.catherinedemontsalvy.ch/French/Histoire/marianne-juliette-benzoni-presse.htm Laramie1960 (talk) 13:03, 9 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
