Coat hangar abortion?[edit]

I very faintly remember a coat hangar abortion in this novel. If there's anyone who's read this book and more recently and remember the specifics around this incident, could you please add it to the main article? It seems important ... that one scene was so graphic that it seems to be the only part of the book that stuck in my mind. --Cyde Weys talkcontribs 11:45, 14 December 2005 (UTC)idk[reply]

Hello, I have studied this novel and I am familiar with the scene you describe. The abortion is performed on herself by Suzie a character in Elaine's art class at university. It is noteworthy to the plot because Elaine's partner Josef (the teacher of the art class) is responsible for the pregnancy (he has a relationship with both Elaine and Suzie) it is the abortion and Josef's treatment of Suzie (who Elaine previously disliked because of her similarity to childhood bully Carol Campbell) that leads to Elaine's breakup with Josef.

Whilst the scene is interesting, I am unsure if Suzie is an important enough character to mention her on a Wikipedia Article. I may add further information to the page, and see how it is received. (Felicity Flynn (talk) 16:30, 10 August 2010 (UTC))[reply]
