Part about Castlewood dam not being based in history? Does anyone else find that really confusing? I don't fully understand what was trying to be said especially given above there are pictures of the dam and multiple sources. Castlewood Dam is well documented in history. The construction was documented in the 1890s in The Rocky Mountain News and in The Denver Post. The 1933 flood is a historic record. The late 1940s construction of the Cherry Creek Dam to prevent similar flooding events in Denver is well documented. The 1964 acquisition of the Castlewood property by Colorado Parks and Wildlife is a historic record. I've hiked this park many times and been at the top and bottom of the remains of the dam. I have many photographs of what the area looks like today and the the park's visitor center has historic photographs and a documentary covering the area. I propose removing the conspiracy theory segment and replacing it with factual history from reliable sources. Khaytsus (talk) 12:14, 10 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Adding External Links[edit]

Hello Everyone, I wish to add an external link to a map and GPS coordinates for this park. I think this posting would be a huge benefit to visitors of this article because they could use the map and gps coordinates to explore the park themselves. I would also like to add to the text of the article as well. Since I have visited this park many times... I can add a lot to this article. As a total disclaimer... this link would actually go to my website and obviously that benefits my website... but it also benefits Wikipedia and this article in particular. Just so everyone knows... I am truly trying to make a good contribution to the community. I spent several days and hundreds of dollars surveying this park to create these resources and now I wish to share them totally free of charge. Please let me know anyone has a problem with this link... if not and nobody minds... I would like to post a modest link and add some factual information to the article. Thanks.

As you have been told on your talk: we don't add links to promote our own work. If someone else wants to add the link that would be fine. Also please add only reliably sourced information to Wikipedia articles and avoid adding material based on your personal observations (see original research. Could the map be uploaded as an image with its copyright released by the person who created it? Then would it not be the same as Wikipedians who take photos of buildings that they then upload to Wikipedia to enhance articles about those buildings? This would eliminate the need for an external link since the map would have become a part of the wikicommunity. Of course, as I (albeit limitedly) understand it, this might require the creator of the image to release it into the public domain. Since the owner of the website offers the maps free of charge in the first place, perhaps he would have no difficulty sharing (if that’s the right word) the copyright with the wikicommunity. — SpikeToronto (talk) 04:36, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
