Previous event with the same name[edit]

It looks like there was a previous event of the same name. I have no details about it (years played, event format, etc.), but this press release says "The Eagles and Orange have met just once, with EMU recording a 68-65 win, Dec. 14, 1996, in the championship game of the Carrier Classic in the Carrier Dome." (top of page 2) Obviously it's a completely different event, but I think this article should mention the other event to avoid possible confusion. Thanks, cmadler (talk) 16:29, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I considered forming a hatnote with a link to Carrier Dome, but I couldn't think of an elegant way to do so. Without a mention of "classic" on that article, I think we can leave the issue alone unless the phrase pops up again in relation to the Syracuse stadium. --BDD (talk) 15:25, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Carrier ClassicList of college basketball games played on aircraft carriers – (Or a similar name) I believe this page should be moved in order to accomodate other games being played this year that are not under the name Carrier Classic. ~ Richmond96 TC 23:54, 16 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose You're asking for a significant change in scope, not just name. This is about an annual event with a specific name. Now, if there isn't one after 2012, maybe it would make sense in a few years to merge it somewhere. But in the meantime, the better course of action would be for you to create List of college basketball games played on aircraft carriers, if you think it can stand as an article, and describe the Carrier Classic in a paragraph with a {{main}}. --BDD (talk) 16:30, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. A list requires that there be multiple items to be listed. If there are others, create such a list, and include a link to this article on it.    → Michael J    17:42, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
