NicoFlynn, first, nice job on the article. Second, the "concerns" are minor, or else I wouldn't have marked the article as "reviewed". The first issue is the POV. Beware of using WP:PEACOCK words, like "pioneer". That actually happens to be okay in this instance since the source actually uses that descriptor. Other phrases also seem worded to build up the importance of the subject, such as "...earning her recognition not only in her local area, but across the United States and around the world". Just state what she did, let the reader draw conclusions. The second issue is the non-reliable sources. You can read about them in more detail at WP:RS, but the Reader's Digest version is that if a site has contributions from readers/guests, or has no editorial oversight, than it isn't reliable. So sources like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and other social sites are not reliable. In your article you use Ancestry.com, which is also non-RS (and in case you come across it, neither is Findagrave.com). Another commonly used non-RS is imdb.com. @Onel5969:Thank you for that explanation and the advice. That completely makes sense. My WikiScholars instructor said it would be tough to get into the mindset of how to write simply and in a straightforward manner within Wikipedia. I will definitely strive to keep the "flowery" language in check. (As a museum curator, I often have word limits in exhibit texts, and we need to write to not only educate but draw people into the subject at hand, so sometimes flowery language it has to be.) I personally have not spent much time working with Ancestry.com, so I will also continue to look for a more substantiated source to confirm my subject's family stats.NicoFlynn (talk) 20:05, 10 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
