City/Province column[edit]

@CheckersBoards:, could you please explain why you feel the hometowns of non-notable ringette players are relevant enough to be placed on the article, together with the crest? ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 18:42, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, wrong ping @CheckersBoard:. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 18:44, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's how all rosters for national ringette teams are drawn up. It's the standard. On national teams there aren't any non-notable players because it is a team sport rather than an individual sport. In addition some players make national teams but aren't immediately inducted into the Hall of Fame, that happens later on. So far it's rare that an inductee makes it in once they've died. Ringette based HoF's appear to be a relatively new thing (sport isn't that old).

Removing the provincial/city column might be a good idea considering the fact when drafting articles for other national teams, finding province/region/city is a near impossible job. It seems to largely be a Canadian thing though I could be wrong. So removing that column might help give other articles dealing with the other national teams a more consistent and clean appearance by only making space for the more relevant information. Using that table style across the board = better idea/style.

So I'm proposing the following: Number/Name/Position and possibly a fourth column that can identify whether or not a player, coach, or official has made it into an HoF. CheckersBoard (talk) 23:23, 31 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Would it be okay if I at least started by removing the province/city columns? I'd like to get rid of that quickly. I know I have to do a run through all rosters but I can get it done. I won't add an HoF column, it might not be necessary and that problem can probably be tackled later, if it even is one. CheckersBoard (talk) 04:10, 1 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

AirshipJungleman29, thank you. CheckersBoard, if you are unblocked, please see my recent edits and their summaries. These tables are excessive and cumbersome, and contain too much information. Having a section "Centers" and then a cell that says "center" is unnecessary. You have to keep in mind that such tables a. are a bitch to edit for others; b. take up huge amounts of space; and c. cause great difficulties for mobile users. So yes: those provinces need to go, and the flags/coats of arms/whatever need to go to: they violate MOS:FLAG and are highly distracting.

There are other problems here--geographical terms are overlinked (how many times is "Calgary" linked?), there's unnecessary HoF material, and in general, the article is really just incomprehensible: I do not understand its organization, and it's so big that you just can't see the forest for the trees. Returning momentarily to these messes of articles, I am confused as to why the editor has chosen to focus on the teams taken to each championship, which are nearly completely non-notable in composition, rather than the results achieved when there. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 08:43, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Back. Already began removing province/city columns and the extra "Position" columns where warranted. Still tweaking. I authored the table for the Ringette Canada Hall of Fame and have removed it entirely since it only created confusion. CheckersBoard (talk) 02:07, 2 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
CheckersBoard, shall I move all the national junior rosters to their individual championships, or will you? ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 01:04, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I can get it done but unfortunately it will take me a while because I've been really busy and under the weather lately :( . Btw, absolutely love what you've done, this is a much much better way to do it, cleaner, faster, easier for future edits/editors, links etc. (and I'm guessing it's also a better fit in terms of wiki's manual of style).
