Untitled[edit]

According to Grove Music Online, a cambiata is "An unaccented NON-HARMONIC NOTE that intervenes in a melodic resolution but is not contained in the interval circumscribing the resolution, and which is approached in the same direction as that of the resolution." I'm not an expert on this and I don't have time to do research right now, but it looks like this page's definition reflects a standard definition for "appoggiatura" which is fundamentally different from the Grove definition of cambiata above. I agree …[edit]

I am in a similar situation, not being an expert but agreeing with Ben: the first external reference given clearly states that the jump (notes 2 & 3) are to a dissonant note with the resolution on the fourth note. I think the information given is actually for an "Interrupted Resolution"
