There is some incorrect information in this article. Jay Kay from Jamirouquai lives in Horsenden, Jackie Stuart in Dunsmore and David Jason in Ellesborough. All close, but not in Cadsden. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.105.111.87 (talk) 14:53, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed them from the page. I would request any future editors to please reference any later inclusions. -- roleplayer 15:04, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

"Cats Dean"[edit]

The information about the "Cats" badly needs citation of authorities. I have never seen this in any book or authoritative source and it has the hallmarks of "popular etymology" which is so often wrong. If there is authority for the story, please cite it in full. Otherwise the paragraphs dealing with this will have to be removed. The tag "Citation needed" was added some time ago but nothing has been forthcoming to date.

As no authority for these statements has been produced during the last twelve months these paragraphs have been deleted. They can be restored if a reliable source can be cited.

The unsourced story about the "Cats" has reappeared after being deleted because no reliable authority for it had been produced after a year. A reference was then given to an unsourced website which was itself later deleted for the valid reason given by Roleplayer. The original story has been put back, but still waiting for sources, which have still not been produced. I have myself looked at all the books on Buckinghamshire in the Topography section of the London Library (a fair number ranging from the early 19th to the late 20th century, some researched and some popular) and not one of them has any mention of the story. It seems to me to show all the symptoms of a hoax and I have deleted it again. It can be reinstated if any reliable authority for it can be cited. I have added to the article a more probable derivation for the name. The reference to a stagecoach changing horses at the Plough also needed authority. It seems rather improbable that a stagecoach from Thame to London would have used a route up the steep hilll behind the Plough, presumably then an unmade muddy lane.

Agreed. If I see it being inserted again without firm backup from independent references I will revert it on sight. -- roleplayer 17:12, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
