Merging "Internet Explorer box model bug"[edit]

Both this article and Internet Explorer box model bug are somewhat outdated in its coverage of box model. Given the advent of "box-sizing" in CSS3, both implementations are now standard, the so-called "CSS box model" (box-sizing: content-box) is default, and "IE box model" (box-sizing: border-box) is an option. In addition, there has been advocacy of using the border-box option -- the old IE implementation.(here, here). I am proposing articles be merged. If no one objects, I will try to merge them when I get a chance (probably sometimes during the holidays this year). --Voidvector (talk) 23:22, 26 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Far too much detail on the history[edit]

This page is clogged with long-since-obsolete material about "Internet Explorer 6", "Internet Explorer 7" etc which have been unimportant for several years.

Internet Explorer had some historical importance, as an example of marketing success and the network effect, but going into details of its various versions is unnecessary. Its influence on CSS was mostly to slow down widespread acceptance of standards during its period of dominance. Insulation2 (talk) 10:45, 15 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
