Removed Buchcholz[edit]

This relay is spelled differently than the system, with an extra c between the buch and holz. It does not belong in the article and should be in its own article, if legitimate.-----Adimovk5 (talk) 06:34, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Buchholz system is applicable only in swiss tournament. Given example is apparently round robin tournament. I have no idea, what column bu mean. But in the round-robin tournament has each player the same Buchholz.--Tomas62 (talk) 18:58, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

According to the paragraph above the table, bu = Buchholz score and mb Median-Buchholz score, but I don't see how they got those figures. I think you are right about it not being applicable to a round robin. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 19:13, 8 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

not a swiss tournament cross table[edit]

explanation weird[edit]

It claims: "You also see that under the standard Buchholz system Kosenkov beats out Sloth yet in the Median-Buchholz system, Sloth reclaimed the top spot." but Kosenkov has higher numbers compared to Sloth both with Buchholz and Median-Buchholz Tk (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 15:34, 13 May 2012 (UTC).[reply]

removing example[edit]

I'm removing the example, since it seems to have problems. I'm rewriting some in accord with the new reference. Bubba73 You talkin' to me? 00:22, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

the system[edit]

The Buchholz system was designed as an alternate scoring system for Swiss-system tournaments. When used this way, the player's score is multiplied by the sum of the opponent's score to give the final score. When it is used as a tie-breaking system then there is no benefit to multiplying, since all tied players have the same score. Then it is equivalent to the Solkoff tie-breaking system.
