Jose Luis Brown is not related to the Scottish Browns[edit]

I deleted a reference to Jose Luis Brown, that was based on an article that claimed that "Tata" is a direct descendant of the Browns that founded Alumni.

I personally knew that this was not true, but did not have any source to confirm or refute. Now I do. The night of 04 Jun 2010, Brown together with Argentina's U-20 physical trainer Eduardo Kiriluk, was at a fundraiser for a soccer club in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where they were invited to give a clinic. Yours truly asked point-blank: are you related to the Brown family of Alumni fame? Jose Luis said "no". He is unaware of the English/Scottish/Irish connection that gave him his last name, but is positive that there there is no link to Alumni (nor to Admiral Guillermo Brown, as has also been posited by some).

This is indeed a "personal communication", which is sometimes used as such in scientific literature but is mostly frowned upon here. I don't have a solution that will appease those who'd like the (false) info restored. The Scottish journalist cited might have heard some Argentine rumor, and appraised it "at face value". I will soon post an article to the Web containing the Q&A we had with Brown; I guess it may act as a counterweight to that one. elpincha (talk) 05:13, 5 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
