requesting more info about opening the bridge[edit]

I was stuck on a number one train for 20 minutes because this bridge was opened on 6/25/14 and missed my connection to the MetroNorth train at the Marble Hill Station on the north bank of the Harlem River. This made me curious. Please add the following information: a) a photo of the bridge in the open position; b) a discussion of the circumstances under which the bridge is opened, potentially delaying thousands of subway riders — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skysong263 (talkcontribs) 23:32, 25 June 2014‎ (UTC)[reply]

As far as I know the bridge is lifted whenever the authorities are notified that there will be water traffic which cannot pass under the bridge. Since this does not happen on a regular schedule, getting a picture of the bridge in open position would mean either staking it out, or just being in the right place at the right time - so I wouldn't hold my breath about us getting one for the article.
