Boxing Career[edit]

Can anyone find any information on Adams boxing career? All I can find is a mention of it in one or two articles, but nothing firm. - Theophilus75 19:30, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA quick fail[edit]

The article has problems with references and other issues. I am failing this per the GA review of the Undertaker article. Quadzilla99 07:07, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article has been submitted by it's GA reviewer for Good Article Review. - Theophilus75 02:27, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just realized that I never posted the results here, only on Theo's talk page. There was no consensus reached during the GA/R, which can be found here. Regards, LaraLove 19:13, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Training[edit]

The second sentence in the Early Career section is almost identical to the first sentence in the second lead paragraph, which comes off a little repetitive. Should we choose one location to keep that information? The article also mentions that Adams was trained by Tatsumi Fujinami, arguably one of Japan's greatest wrestlers. Should that be mentioned in the article next alongside Inoki? (Edit: I keep forgetting to sign these things). GaryColemanFan 17:32, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Normally I would say yes the sentence should be in one location or the other, but those who have been looking it over it for GA Review have said more info needs to be included in the lead, and any information in the lead needs to also be in the body of the article, preferably expanded on. In reviewing some other articles I've read written by those reviewing it they had identical info in the lead and the body, so that is why I went with it (thought I'd like to see it changed some later). Maybe the way to change it is to add Tatsumi Fujinami to the body of the article and not in the lead. - T-75|talk|contribs 22:24, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Managers[edit]

When Crush returned to the WWF in 1993, he was managed by Mr. Fuji. I'm not sure how to list this on the table, though. Should it be "Mr. Fuji: 1990-1991, 1993-1994" or should Mr. Fuji be listed twice?

hmm...I forgot about that...twice would keep the box looking normal...or we could put the 93-94 under the 90-91....I'll try it the second way I guess...if you don't think it looks good let me know and I'll switch it. - T-75|talk|contribs 23:54, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA review comments[edit]

Having reviewed the article against the GA criteria, I'm failing it with the following comments:

  • All images must be provided a fair use rationale, please read the smallprint in the template on each image page.
  • Yup that has not happened, maybe because the uploader was unaware - I've left a message for each uploader to fill out the information, specifically helping them out with both details and a link to explain it, it's up to them now to do it as no one else can fill out where they got it from etc. MPJ-DK 10:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • No need to use ref [1] three times in a single sentence.
  • I corrected that, plus other citation issues MPJ-DK 10:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Not much is known about Brian Adams' childhood." - not really necessary.
  • Why is "Mixed Martial Artist" capitalised?
  • Now it's not, fixed MPJ-DK 10:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC) [reply]
  • WP:MOS for headings should be heeded - no over-capitalisation.
  • Should be okay now MPJ-DK 10:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC) [reply]
  • A bit of both, now fixed MPJ-DK 10:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC) [reply]
  • If you going to use PNW and NWA as abbreviations then at least explain what they mean the first time.
  • PNW is explained the first time it's used. Now "NWA" only appears on the title list since that's part of the proper names of the championships MPJ-DK 10:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC) [reply]
  • A lot of use of wrestling slang, makes it difficult reading for the non-expert.
  • I tried to explain terms first time they came up with linking and / or explanations in the text. I don't know if that's enough or not, I have a hard time judging that. MPJ-DK 10:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Citation placement should follow WP:CITE
  • Should now be after the punctuation without a space in between MPJ-DK 10:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC) [reply]
  • Finish/Sig Move table seems to be jammed in to a section for the sake of it and ruins the formatting. Why not have a section describing his wrestling style and include the table there? Also, capitalisation within the table is all over the place.
  • Fixed the capitalisation. Since I didn't put the table in I'll hold off on removing it, I'd perfer the standard WP:PW way of listing the moves but I'm not the only one working on the article so I'll leave it be for now. MPJ-DK 10:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • "...allied himself with Yokozuna, Mr. Fuji, and Japan..." - which Japan? The country or a person?
  • Made clear he became a Japanese Sympathizer etc. MPJ-DK 10:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC) [reply]
  • "They then had him become a..." - nasty prose.
  • Indeed it was, now it's fixed MPJ-DK 10:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC) [reply]
  • Need a citation for worst record at Wrestlemania, not just evidence of each loss.
  • I'm looking for one right now. MPJ-DK 10:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Actually while looking I found out this wasn't even true. Big Show is 0 and 6 see Here at 411Mania so I just removed that section as "sharing second worst win/loss record" doesn't quite have the same ring to it. it's another problem solved however MPJ-DK 10:26, 15 July 2007 (UTC) [reply]
  • Separate years with the en-dash, per WP:DASH.
  • Absolutely True, now it's fixed MPJ-DK 10:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC) [reply]
  • Do we really need to wikilink movie to Film?!
  • I agree, that's over linking MPJ-DK 10:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC) [reply]
  • Expand nWo before just using it.
  • Yup, quite right - fixed MPJ-DK 10:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC) [reply]
  • Managers table looks out of place, it needs to be better positioned within the article, if indeed it's needed at all.
  • Since I didn't put the table in I'll hold off on removing it, I'd perfer the standard WP:PW way of listing managers but I'm not the only one working on the article so I'll leave it be for now. MPJ-DK 10:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Expand PPV (I'm guessing it's pay-per-view?), don't just use it.
  • It's used once in the text and pay-per-view is used before, minor but what the hey - fixed MPJ-DK 10:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC) [reply]
  • "...but it seems to have been unsuccessful..." is a bit crystal-ball - better to just say he had surgery but still declares himself unfit to wrestle.
  • Fixed, no Balls of Crystal now MPJ-DK 10:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC) [reply]
  • Headings like "WWA and AJPW" are unpleasant reading.
  • Came up with a better headline MPJ-DK 10:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC) [reply]
  • "He now works as a lane maintenance specialist at Warpath Lanes in Kingsport, Tennessee" or "It is reported that he is now living off of a Lloyd's of London insurance policy." - two different conclusions to the article in two different sections - a bit confusing for me.
  • Fixed, kept the verifiable one MPJ-DK 10:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC) [reply]
  • "PWI ranked him # 289 out of the 500 best singles wrestlers of the "PWI Years" & "PWI ranked him # 59 of the best tag teams (with Bryan Clark) of the "PWI Years" in 2003." - not particularly impressive achievements...
  • Not a reason for rejection, wrestlers & teams placement on those two lists are generally included and considering the list is of ALL professional wrestlers and ALL tag teams everywhere that have been active in like 25 years it says a bit more about their level. Not removed because "not impressive" is not a "GA" criteria. MPJ-DK 10:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Rambling Man 12:50, 13 July 2007 (UTC) I've done a general update on the article based on the feedback, I've tried my best to improve the article and I think I've done okay - but the "fair use" tagging needs to be resolved before resubmitting it for GA as well as a decission on the "moves" and "managers" tables which I agree with look randomly placed and work better in the old "List" style IMO. Glad I could help out. MPJ-DK 10:43, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, my major concerns have been addressed, the images now have fair use, the article meets most elements of the WP:MOS, there are decent citations. It's a GA now. The Rambling Man 16:58, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Death[edit]

I have a feeling soon Wikipedia is going to have to put a block on a wrestler who dies. Because there are some immature pricks on this site.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.45.212.119 (talkcontribs) 13:17, 13 August 2007.
The article is currently semi-protected, but for some reason anon IPs are still able to vandalize it (I have fixed a couple bad edits). I have alerted admin about it and hopefully it will be resolved soon. Jeffpw 20:14, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Just as an aside, if anyone wants particular attention to wrestler pages post-mortum, feel free to contact me personally. I chanced upon Benoit and now this, so please don't hesitate. The Rambling Man 20:23, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This needs to be updated- He was found by his wife not breathing and Tampa police have stated this is an "unexplained incident" at present. Can't quote a news source at the moment as I cant find one but it is common knowledge on all WWF/E blogging sites that he passed in his sleep. can someone find a source and elaborate this section? Frequency24 22.15, 13 August 2007 GMT
Whose idea was it to speculate that he died of a steroid overdose? Obviously someone who knows nothing about steroids. FOX News, perhaps? Steroids aren't like cocaine, and I'm pretty sure it's basically impossible to "overdose" on them. Besides, Wikipedia is supposed to be about FACTS, not speculation. I suggest it gets removed immediately. ViolentLee 18:42, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

They do not have as much coverage on this guy as much as they had for Chris B.The Cleveland Browns are awesome! 14:20, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Benoit was an active wrestler so the media immediately picked the bones bare on that story. Adams had been retired for some time. Could say the same for Sherri Martel and Mike Awesome who also died this year..Frequency24 21.29, 14 August 2007 GMT

Bryan Adams[edit]

There's a misspelling of Adams' first name in the article. - makiwolf 09:05, 14 Aug 2007 (PDT)

Actor[edit]

"~ was an American actor and professional wrestler..."

Where in the article is he described as an actor? If he indeed did any acting it should be noted.

"In 1996, Adams had an uncredited roll in the Bollywood movie Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi. In the movie he played "Crush" and was killed by "The Undertaker" (played by Brian Lee) in a wrestling match.[6] " Thats quoting from the article. Oops, forgot to sign in before editing. ScorpO 09:51, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

so I see. I'm not really sure if that counts as "acting" though. Many wrestlers have played themselves in movies. It's more of a cameo really. Sherick 23:34, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA Reassessment[edit]

This discussion is transcluded from Talk:Brian Adams (wrestler)/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the reassessment.

Hi, I am reviewing this article as part of Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles/Project quality task force in an effort to ensure all listed Good articles continue to meet the Good article criteria. In reviewing the article, I have found there are a number of issues that need to be addressed. As many sports related GAs are unmaintained and not improved, I will be providing only a cursory review to begin with. This review will be placed on the talk page and I will notify the wikiprojects involved (not necessarily at the same time). The article will then have seven days from the day of notification for someone to come forward and start making the suggested changes and taking responsibility for the article here. If someone comes forward, I will supply a more detailed review, if someone does not then the article will be delisted. If someone is working on the article then, within reason, there will be no time limit in which the changes have to be made.--Jackyd101 (talk) 00:21, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose): b (MoS):
The prose is not good, maybe a 4/10 average. There are a lot of loose sentences unconnected to the text around them.
  • It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references): b (citations to reliable sources): c (OR):
Very few references for an article of this length. Some appear to be unreliable, others are improperly formatted.
  • It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects): b (focused):
No Personal life section and many other sections are impossible to understand.
  • It follows the neutral point of view policy.
a (fair representation): b (all significant views):

Birthday[edit]

I cant find two consistent sources for his birthday and marked the info with {{citation needed}}:

  • According to the previously cited source [1]: April 14, 1964.
  • His IMDb page [2]: January 31, 1963
  • Currently displayed birthday according to Nightstalker59: April 14, 1963. the summary of his edit was "changed birthdate to match info obtained from former partner bryan clark and social security birth index" as can be seen here: [3]. However he didnt cite any source, thus the info either needs to be verified on a reliable source or immediately removed from the page. Nimuaq (talk) 20:17, 3 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
look here in Social Security Death Index. It's possible his birthday is 1963-01-31 •2003:DE:723:7AF6:E566:BA1B:4527:9BD3 (talk) 19:32, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

That looks kinda OK, but doesn't prove that the "Brian K Adams" is the same as the article's subject. It is venturing into WP:OR territory. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:54, 26 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Tattoo[edit]

No mention of his tattoo that he started sporting when he returned in 1996 and had up until he debuted in WCW? What was it supposed to be? Was it real or fake (I assumed it was fake)? I figured it warranted some mentioning since it was part of his dramatic appearance change at the time. TheGary (talk) 01:46, 30 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
