Regarding the suitability of the RBS-15 for different targets[edit]

As noted when someone did undo my edit that removed the statement about the RBS-15 being "just too large (and too expensive) for most targets", this statement in the text was supposed to be referring to land targets. However the meaning of the text, as it stands now and as it stood before my edit, gives the impression that the RBS-15 is unsuitable for the majority of all targets, naval targets included. So, unless someone provides a cedible source that the RBS-15 is too large and expensive for all types of targets, the text has to be changed from it's current form, since it is highly misleading.

I'm gonna revert the last undo undo and add information to the text that the RBS-15 is "just too large (and too expensive) for most types of land targets". This is I accept as highly plausible and I am happy to see it included in the text. (On the other hand, someone could make the case that it probably should be included that the Polypherm is too small for many targets, but I don't care that much, so let's leave that out.) I hope this is satisfactory to everyone. Braunschweig class not the first corvette class in the German Navy since age of sail[edit]

The sentence "This will be the first class of ships in the German Navy since the age of sail classified as corvettes." is simply not true. Until 1884 there had been two types of steam-corvettes in the German Navy: Gedeckte Korvette and Glattdeckkorvette. Since 1884 the term Kreuzerkorvette was used for steam-corvettes in the German Navy. Blinder Seher 19:20, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

IIRC, there also was a 1970s-ish Bundesmarine corvette project called "Korvette 130", basically an all-guns/ASW large patrol vessel. Never went beyond drawing board stage though. 84.44.213.32 (talk) 16:05, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

German Army?[edit]

"Also the German Army plans to procur..." This is obviously a mistakte because Armies don't operate ship as far as I know. Planned number of units[edit]

The article still lists 10 corvettes as planned total. However, while the German Navy once upon a time had a requirement for ten corvettes, this number was never associated directly with the Type 130 (which always had only five ships under contract). There was, later on, a very tentative "Korvette 131"-project, which never saw concrete efforts in procurement, and now the whole thing has been renamed MKS 180 (for "Mehrzweckkampfschiff 180"), which not only suggests a new class of ships, but likely also to a rather different design (probably more along the lines of an OPV, perhaps multi-hulled, who knows), which will not be called a corvette by the German Navy at all. If there are no reasonable objections, I will correct the number to "5". Para-OZ (talk) 09:18, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Need a source[edit]

this statement "However, in size, armament, protection and role these corvettes resemble modern anti-surface warfare (ASuW) frigates, the main difference being the total absence of any anti-submarine warfare (ASW) related sensors or weapons." need a source, the size is small today frigate are larger, probably you need to back to 80s for so small ship for get a frigate classification, their AsuW weaponry is comparable that of FAC or AsuW corvettes, their AA capability is limited to self defence Francomemoria (talk) 01:27, 2 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
