The Best Years of Our Lives[edit]

A Britisher wonders if 'Boone City' in this much-praised 1946 film is the real-life Iowa town? Probably not, at least not at that time: it showed too many big-city features. But today could it be the town after modern development? Might a present-day young audience see the film's night clubs, large football stadium &c, and say 'Yes, that's my Boone'?

Just curious. 87.115.72.71 (talk) 18:59, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've not heard of a film called "Boone City" - can you provide a link to a description of the film? --Philosopher Let us reason together. 22:13, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I believe he's referring to The Best Years of Our Lives. Fephisto (talk) 13:45, 13 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ah. That article now has a note stating that that "Boone City" was based on Cincinnati. I don't know where its name came from, but since there are many place named Boone, it seems unlikely that it was named after Boone, Iowa. – Philosopher Let us reason together. 20:25, 14 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Twister info removed[edit]

"The "Twister Hill" scene where Bill Harding and Jo Harding try and drop Dorothy amid a tornado in the Warner Bros. 1996 film Twister was filmed here."

The above was removed from the article as it is not accurate. The scene mentioned was filmed on a stretch of county road (E18/130th St.) around 2 miles east of the community of Pilot Mound which is located 13+ miles northwest of the city of Boone. Pilot Mound is in Boone County which may be cause for the confusion. That is the only true connection to the city of Boone concerning the filming of the scene itself. If this is deemed "too picky" feel free to add the sentence back into the article.THX1136 (talk) 21:59, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Random sentence/thought fragments[edit]

Below are the items removed from the article. Unless someone has an idea of what was intended they should not be restored to the article as they make no logical sense in their current form.

Removal of Citation header[edit]

With the exception of the "Transportation" and notable people section, the balance of the article seems to have adequate citations for the information presented. I propose removing the main header leaving the other two intact until those sections are improved. I'll revisit here in a couple of weeks to see what the consensus view might happen to be. Thanks!THX1136 (talk) 02:21, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Since there has been no input to the contrary I am removing the main header and leaving the two section headers intact until those sections receive the necessary citation improvements.THX1136 (talk) 02:19, 22 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Removed the citation header in the Notable people section as all have a cite now. There are 2 cites which are technically not allowed, one by a former reporter and columnist for the Boone News Republican, the local newspaper. Will look for better sources.
