I know that the nominator has left Wikipedia. But if anyone would like to address the following issues, then go ahead.

Please note that I know very little about this subject. Most of these changes were like simple fixes, however, and I hate seeing articles in this kind of situation fail, so I've done my best to address as many concerns as possible, but there are one or two issues remaining that I probably will not know how to fix. @Courcelles: Perhaps you could take care of these, I honestly didn't see that you had taken this up until after I had started, so my apologies, but thank you for helping out. @Good888: Thanks for picking up the review anyway! --Bentvfan54321 (talk) 14:26, 6 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Background

  • "missing only 1948–1960 and 1980." Missing only 1948-1960? Change to "missing the 1948–1960 and 1980 games."
  • "with the eldest athlete being trap shooter César Menacho at age 43 and the youngest being 26 year old swimmer Miguel Navarro." Source please.
  • "there had been no Bolivian athlete who had medaled in any Olympic event." Rewrite to: "there has been no Bolivian athlete who has won a medal in any event."
  • "Menacho was the national flagbearer at the ceremonies." Rewrite to: "Menacho was selected as flagbearer for the ceremonies."

Athletics

  • Add an image where Fadrique Ignacio Iglesias Mendizábal and Sonia Calizaya Huanca competed.

Cycling

  • "He competed in the men's individual road race. Born in the southern town of San Bernardo de la Frontera de Tarija, Gallardo was 27 years old at the time of his competition in Beijing. Gallardo had not previously competed at any Olympic games." Rewrite to: "Born in the southern town of San Bernardo de la Frontera de Tarija, Gallardo was 27 years old at the time of his competition in Beijing. Gallardo had not previously competed at any Olympic games. He competed in the men's individual road race, which took place on the 8th of August."
  • "Horacio Gallardo was one of the 53 competitors who did not finish the marathon." Reason why?

Shooting

  • Add an image where César David Menacho Flores competed at.
  • "César David Menacho Flores was the sole Bolivian competitor in shooting events while at the Beijing Olympics." Remove the word "while".
  • "and was 43 years old at the time of the competition in Beijing" Rewrite to: "and was 43 years old at the Beijing Games."
  • "both who finished with a score of 106." Rewrite to: "both who also finished with a score of 106."
  •  Partly done, tweaked a bit differently; is this okay? --Bentvfan54321 (talk) 14:26, 6 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Note that he did not advance to the final.

Swimming

  • "Moreno first competed at the Olympics at age 14 in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. She competed in the women's 50 meters freestyle; 100 meters freestyle; 100 meters backstroke; and 100 meters breaststroke." Rewrite to "Moreno first competed at the Olympics at age 14 in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, where she competed in the women's 50 meters freestyle, 100 meters freestyle, 100 meters backstroke and 100 meters breaststroke." Also add a source here.
  •  Done with the rewrite,  Not done with the source, I'll try to locate one.--Bentvfan54321 (talk) 14:26, 6 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • "She later qualified for the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, in the women's 100 meters breaststroke; Moreno returned in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece in the same event. Replace the ; with a full stop.
  • "During the preliminary round, Moreno competed in the eight-person fourth heat." Rewrite to: During the preliminary round, Moreno competed in heat four against seven other athletes."
  • "and behind American Samoa's Virginia Farmer (28.82 seconds) in a heat led by Mozambique's Ximene Gomes (28.15 seconds)" Add a comma after Virginia Farmer's time.
  • "Miguel Ángel Navarro competed on Bolivia's behalf as a swimmer in the men's 100 meters freestyle event." Remove "as a swimmer" Readers will know that he's a swimmer, since this is the swimming section.
  • "placing second between first place heat finalist Emile Rony Bakale of the Republic of the Congo (55.08 seconds) and third place heat finalist Sofyan El Gidi of Libya (57.89 seconds)." Rewrite to: "placing second between the heat winner Emile Rony Bakale of the Republic of the Congo (55.08 seconds) and last placed Sofyan El Gidi of Libya (57.89 seconds).
  • "Overall, 64 competitors completed the event. Navarro ranked 63rd, and did not advance." Rewrite to: "Overall Navarro ranked 63rd of 64 competitors that competed in the event. Therefore he did not progress further."
  • "and Great Britain's Michaela Breeze scored ahead of her (185 kilograms)." Remove this sentence completely. Not needed.

References

  • Link ESPN and Sports Reference at least once.
  • I'm not sure that it's needed to include the "year=" section in some of these citations.
  • Can you point to specific ones you'd like to see removed?
  • Remove them from references 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 and 17. good888 (talk) 15:09, 6 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Noticed that the source titles of these athletes say only their names. The title should be for example: "Fadrique Iglesias profile" rather than just "Fadrique Iglesias".

Overall, alot of issues present in this article. Placing it on hold for now. good888 (talk) 14:27, 4 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Pretty sure this is all fixable. I'll get to it this weekend (6 or 7 December). Courcelles 16:11, 5 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Bentvfan54321: thanks for fixing most of the issues! @Courcelles: thanks for being interested in addressing these issues as well. Perhaps you could fix the remaining issues? good888 (talk) 15:09, 6 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. --Bentvfan54321 (talk) 15:10, 6 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Still looking at this, I think it needs more work than the review might indicate. Will work on later on today. Courcelles 06:38, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Courcelles: It's been a week and a half. Are you still working on this? --Bentvfan54321 (talk) 02:03, 20 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Failing[edit]

After a break from Wikipedia, I am sorry to say that I am going to have to fail this article as there are still issues present even though this GA review has taken more than the usual seven days. good888 (talk) 12:50, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
