Name[edit]

I've noticed a small spat of name-changing edits here and thought I'd bring it up for discussion. Shouldn't the top of the page be listed as Bojan Krkić Pérez and not simply Bojan Krkić? I mention this because it would go in line with other Spanish footballers, such as Carles Puyol, Raúl González, etc. They are listed with their full names (Carles Puyol i Saforcada and Raúl González Blanco, respectively), rather than with merely one last name. So shouldn't Bojan be listed the same way? He is, after all, listed that way on Barcelona'sofficial website. Isaiah 19:32, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I found Spanish naming customs to be an informative article. // laughing man 04:04, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There's so much vandalism on this page and I'm having a great deal of difficulty trying to spot it, I don't want to delete relevant information, the vandals seem to be getting a kick out of changing the players names, and names of countries. Goal scoring record[edit]

960 goals in 7 years? Where did that stat come from? It doesn't appear in the reference listed at the end of that sentence. How is it possible for anyone, at any level, no matter how lopsided, to average more than 135 goals per season? I think that zero might be an "extra." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.125.55.106 (talk) 16:01, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

all the goals are recorded in the club archives its all facts --Innuendo1899 16:16, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've read at the spanish wikipedia that the top scorer in FC Barcelona youth teams is Sergio_García_de_la_Fuente, with 969 goals http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergio_Garc%C3%ADa_de_la_Fuente —Preceding unsigned comment added by 147.83.26.147 (talk) 14:15, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I did'nt see this topic before i wrote my entry, but as i stated he have just scored 548 goals and that is counting both youth and senior level. My source is Barcelonas official site (Source: http://www.fcbarcelona.com/web/english/noticies/futbol/temporada09-10/07/n090713105896.html). I also checked the source in the article for the 960 goals and it actually says he did "over 500 goals" and the numbers "960" does not even appear in the article so i wonder where those numbers came from? 78.70.163.165 (talk) 22:50, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Serb??[edit]

His father is Catalan al za malo and his mother from Catalonia too. I don't know where you got that information from, that his Father played for Red Star Belgrade naravno da jeste. That's pure nonesense. His father is a youth scout for FC Barcelona. Bojan doesn't even speak Serbian. All those things stated in that link are not true. So let's change that. regards, Tremor. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.17.113.228 (talk) 11:53, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why don't you provide citations for your information. The article is well sourced right now, and it is a fact that his father is a Serb and he played for Red Star. // laughing man 17:29, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
As it reads on his biography [[1]] he is from Spain and his father is Serb, so that point is correct —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.37.238.2 (talk) 12:28, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He has Serb and Spanish descent so it should be written on his page. He can't be only Spanish when his father is from Serbia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Matijaa007 (talkcontribs) 16:20, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I speak Serbian language and I can tell everyone that in first paragraph of this section among English words are inserted some Serbian ones. Exactly, phrases "al za malo" and "naravno da jeste" meaning "almost" and "of course he is". If we now put this translations back in context of this paragraph we can suppose that someone making jokes with us. So my opinion is do not conceive it seriously. --Čikić Dragan (talk) 22:30, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stats table[edit]

Should the stats in this article be listed slightly differently, as Youth and Senior Clubs? After all, Barcelona B is the reserve team of Barcelona. See Lionel Messi for an example of how this has been listed before. Perhaps I am mistaken in saying that Barca B is only a youth team as the term reserve team might have meanings I'm unaware of and one should never underestimate the complications inherent in sports law, but Barcelona B suggests that it is indeed a youth team. I will wait 24 hours before separating the tables and moving Barca B to Bojan's youth club section. Isaiah 23:30, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know, maybe a good place to ask would be WikiProject football or FC Barcelona talk? I would think it should be standard across all articles on Wikipedia. // laughing man 04:01, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The B team is a reserve team. It is not a youth team.Ovo je na srpskom...Bojan Krkic je jedna izdajica i mi ga ne priznajemo kao Srbina...pravi Srbin je Neven Subotic...!!!

Opening[edit]

In the opening, there is a sentence that reads, "He possess both a Spanish and Serbian passport, and so is allowed to choose which country he plays for should he be called up by them." I am not sure that this is true, but I am also not clear on the rights of a player at this age. Bojan has never played for the full national team, so does that mean he reserves the right to play for Serbia should he choose to do so at the full international level despite the fact that he has already played for various Spanish youth national teams? I just don't know the rules here, otherwise I would edit, but it seems that he wouldn't be allowed to play for Serbia because of his election to go with Spain in the U-x teams. Also, I'm not sure that this is a good sentence to have in the opening, regardless of its factuality. Isaiah 19:20, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

At least there is one mistake on the opening. I have put an biography link just up (in the article refered to his father) where you can find a further explication (sorry, it's in Spanish). This is the mistake: He posses both Spain and Serbian passport, but it isn't true. He hasn't got the Serbian passport (he can get it simply cause his father is Serbian but really now, he hasn't got the serbian nacionality, as you can see, also in spanish, following this link [[2]]) Sorry I cannot sign this, but I only have an spanish user. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.37.238.2 (talk) 12:45, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
For a recent example of a footballer who played U21 for one country, then senior for another, see Zdravko Kuzmanović who played for Swiss U-21 but decided to play for Serbia on the senior level. // laughing man 21:29, 2 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
A player has to decide by a certain age which country they will play for (I forget what age, probably 21), regardless of what junior teams they have played for. Beyond that they have to take 4 or 5 years out of national football if they want to switch national sides. John Hayestalk 09:30, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the info, you two. It should probably be mentioned somewhere in the article, but in the lead? I'm not so sure that's appropriate. Any suggestions as to where it should go? Isaiah 03:55, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If I'm correct, a player has to choose for which country he needs to play. I don't think there is a certian age limit where a player needs to decide. For example Gonzalo Higuain had the choice of being called up to the French squad, but opted for Argentina instead. He was 20 when he decided. I remember reading somewhere that he has already stated he wants to play for Spanish team instead of Serbian, but I think this is just something he has said and isn't actually official yet. I'm pretty sure he does have both passports, otherwise he wouldn't have the choice of playing for either country, he would have to stick with just Spain. I think it should stay in the opening until it is official that he has declared to opt for 1 country, then we can move it to wherever. What you guys think? Lmaorofl 19:04, 6 November 2007 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lmaorofl (talkcontribs)
I personally oppose it in the opening, but will not be offended if it stays there. The reason I oppose it is because it is a detail of his life; it doesn't describe who he is, which is what the lead is for. Isaiah 01:44, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It sort of does describe who he is. It says he is both serb and spanish, while giving small details about his international career. Where would you like to move it to then? Lmaorofl 09:06, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

National Team[edit]

There was recently a bit about him being called up to the spanish national squad that got deleted because he did not play that match. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but if you get called up, you officially play for your country. You could be called up 100 times and not ever play but you would still be part of the squad. I give you an example of Theo Walcott, who was called up by the england manager for the 2006 world cup. He didn't play a single minute, does that mean he wasn't part of the team? No it doesn't. I think the national team section should be put back up, because he was officially called up, regardless whether he played or not. There is a difference between being called up for the squad and earning a first cap. He was part of the team but was an un-used substitute, therefore did not win his first cap, but he was still part of the team, therefore, I think it should be put back up. Also, when you play for the national side, it does not mean you are suddenly ineligble for U-21 and U-18 matches. Again I refer to Theo Walcott, who after playing for the senior england squad, has still played in U-21 matches. A player only becomes ineligble when he goes over the age limit, so technically, he hasn't stopped playing for the U-21 team, no matter how many times he plays for the senior team, until he goes over the age of 21. Since Walcott is now 18, he can no longer play for the U-17 squad, but can still play for all teams above that ahe category. Obviously correct me on anything I may of said that is wrong. What does everyone esle think? I think it should be put back up there. Lmaorofl (talk) 14:00, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You need to be capped or it didn't happen according to FIFA. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chefc (talkcontribs) 04:57, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Any proof of this? Does that mean Walcott wasn't part of the england team for the world cup? Lmaorofl (talk) 20:47, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Highest debut season scorer?[edit]

it says here that he broke raul's record of goals scored in a debut season, but raul never held a record. ronaldo scored 34 goals for barca in his debut season, so this sentance is very incorrect. i will remove it now —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bulkroosh (talkcontribs) 08:37, 10 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, he have just scored 548 goals[edit]

Could someone maybe remove the text that says Bojan did 960 goals during his time in the youth team? During his 10 years in Barcelona he have scored 548 counting both youth and senior level. Catalonian National Team[edit]

Well, I think the article should say Catalonia is not a recognised national team because it is not a nation. Could someone put a note over "Catalonia" in the table clearing up this issue? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.53.219.199 (talk) 15:23, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Goal versus Inter[edit]

Isn't it reasonable that the goal he scored against Inter in the semi-finals of the Champions League should be mentioned? After all, if it hadn't been (arguably, mistakenly) disallowed it would have been the defining moment of his career as FC Barcelona would have reached the ECL final. 90.130.21.223 (talk) 11:55, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No. WP is not a sports magazine. Individual goals and play-by-play does not belong. A few goals do, like Maradona's "Hand of God" for example, but most don't. -- Alexf(talk) 11:31, 29 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Even though he announced it himself on his social network accounts (Facebook/Twitter)? - The Silver Raider 00:19, 29 August 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheSilverRaider (talkcontribs)
This is an encyclopedia, not a news service. We cannot write he is a Milan player until he actually signs the contract, i.e. when either of the clubs involved officially announces he did. The reason is simple: even though the teams and the player have already reached an agreement, the deal might still fall apart before the signing, for example if he doesn't pass the medicals (which is a remote yet possibile occurrence). Luxic (talk) 07:26, 29 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I told you he was... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.38.26.76 (talk) 13:18, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I've come across two articles which claim that he was never actually signed by Roma - but always on loan from Barca - Marca and Football Italia. The loan seems to have been switched to Milan in early 2012 as far as I can tell - and technically he's still with Barca as a parent club. Can anyone shed anymore light on this? I know it's silly season with regard to transfer speculation and so on, but it would seem to be pretty fundamental that we get this bit right. Blue Square Thing (talk) 09:57, 29 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Bojan was loaned to AFC Ajax today for one season, with an option to extend for another year. Marc Overmars and Michael Kinsbergen were in Barcelona today (5 July 2013) to finalize the deal, but he is under contract with Barcelona and NOT with AS Roma.
