Malcolm McDowell[edit]

Malcolm McDowell's name is mentioned in regards to Caligula, but since he publicly detests the movie now days I feel his little mention in this Wiki should be removed. DaMo 00:45, 10 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Guccione's family relations[edit]

The entry reads like a PR piece. To wit: "Guccione was very close to both his parents, Anthony and Nina Guccione, until their death in the mid '90s. He was equally close to his uncle, Edward Sabatini Sr., after whom he was named in part. Guccione would often offer up his Manhattan mansion to host bi-annual 'Sabatini Family Reunions' which often involved up to 100 relatives." "(Guccione) stood by "his wife's) side during her battle with breast cancer until her death...It is often said that her death was the beginning of his end. Guccione owned a pack of six Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs which had full run of his Manhattan mansion." This is all non-notable information, and I've removed it. Sleazy[edit]

What would be done in this case is to incorporate citable references as to why he was considered or perceived as 'sleazy'. But really, all pornographers (which Guccione demonstrably was) are considered 'sleazy' by cultural convention. So perhaps that subject should be dealt with in the article concerning pornography. If specific instances refer to Guccione, then mentioning them in this article would be appropriate. Etc. Also, for the record, please remember that Wikipedia is not a forum. If anyone still cares, there is an article about Guccione in the Feb. 2005 issue of Vanity Fair (the one with the four panel fold out Star Wars cover). In it, it has some details about his personal life, like keeping some of his Penthouse Pets in his Manhattan mansion as a personal harem. It also related that Isabella Ardigo (Pet of the Year 1980) once sued Guccione for allegedly being a pimp and forcing her to have sex with his business partners. I don't recall how the suit turned out. Also, the article had pictures of him smoking (to answer another question), but anyone can get oral or lung cancer even if they don't smoke or live with other smokers (i.e., second hand smoke). __209.179.42.140 (talk) 19:43, 13 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Smoker?[edit]

Correct pronounciation of Guccione[edit]

Some author explains "Guccione" to be pronounced "Goo-chee-ou-nae", which would mean the I is pronounced, which is wrong. The name is obviously Italian, so the I is silent and only used to make the cc sound like "tsh" as in "chew". Without the I the name would be pronounced "Goo-Kone-Ae". When a c or cc is followed by an a,o or u it's pronounced "k", when it's followed by e or i it's "tsh". To make a c/cc followed by an a,o or u to be spoken "tsh" you have to add an I. There's a couple of notes to made here. Even if you're correct (I assume you are), he may have still allowed people to mispronounce it, which is not uncommon for foreigners who tire of constantly correcting people. (For example, the actress Elizabeth Röhm tells everyone her last name is pronounced as "Rome" even though no German would ever say it that way.) So, the article may correctly reflect the way he allowed people to say it. (Although maybe it should included a note about this? /ɡuːˈtʃoʊni/ goo-CHI-oh-nee — these two, both purportedly English, conflict. The first is three syllables; what a monolingual American would repeat on hearing the Italian. The second looks like a spelling pronunciation, with a stressed syllable CHI which seems unlikely even in England. —Tamfang (talk) 18:27, 27 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Strange Rant under "Personal Life"[edit]

Someone has inserted a strange rant about his personal life..."It isn't commonly know that Guccione was an admirer of Picasso who had always been in relationships with models controlling them to the point of destruction and an obsessive womanizer..." which sounds like a crazy run on sentence from someone wearing a tinfoil hat.
