disambig and famous[edit]

disambig created and I removed "famous" because a claim like that requires a CITATION! Naufana : talk 03:11, 2 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Origin of club name[edit]

I grew up in Detroit in the fifties and sixties. "Blind pig" was widely understood slang for any after-hours nightclub. (Last call was, and remains, 2 AM in MI.) So while the raid of a blind pig did have something to do with sparking the Detroit riots, it would be a stretch to say that the Ann Arbor nightclub was named after that raid.

I also lived in Ann Arbor when the Blind Pig opened, and while my recollection is not authoritative, as I recall things, the club owners wanted to project a noir, booze-and-blues orientation; "Blind Pig" captured that pretty well. (I also recall that when the club first opened, they refused to serve beer or mixed drinks, only shots neat with choice of a chaser. Very noir!) Peterhoneyman (talk) 00:09, 4 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
