In reviewing the article, I have found there are some issues that may need to be addressed, listed below. I will check back in seven days. If these issues are addressed, the article will remain listed as a Good article. Otherwise, it may be delisted (such a decision may be challenged through WP:GAR). If improved after it has been delisted, it may be nominated at WP:GAN. Feel free to drop a message on my talk page if you have any questions, and many thanks for all the hard work that has gone into this article thus far.

This is a well-written article of a high-standard. There are some comments below; once these are addressed, I'll check there are no remaining issues, and can then confirm the article's continued Good Article status. Thank you. –Whitehorse1 05:32, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Numerous dead links are used as references. Generally these are probably where the page has moved.
    • The Chicago Public Library has rearranged their website and I am not going to be able to find any of the deadlinks. I sort of surrender on this GAR as a result.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 02:56, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
      • I see. Okay, let me sleep on this and get back to you. Thanks. –Whitehorse1 02:59, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
        • I probably would delist this. There are a bunch of claims sourced to deadlinks. I can not do much about these.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 13:22, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
          • I can. Looking at it now. –Whitehorse1 15:10, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
            • All fixed. I managed to find the pages through the Internet Archive for most. One of those is referenced to a student newspaper Chicago Maroon, which is fine here, as the statement it's referencing is purely observational. I replaced the current programs and computer use references with new URLs, so the information is up-to-date. –Whitehorse1 15:58, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Fairly high use of primary sources, but is probably okay.
  • "only branch...that was privately funded" Was this at its inception?
  • Probably don't need to link United States.
  • "Blackstone, who had..."/"Blackstone had owned the..." 2 consecutive sentences start similarly; varying will make it an easier read.
  • It's probably worth wikilinking or wikidictionary-linking 'codicil'.
  • "Blackstone Library is the first branch library in" Change to became the first?
  • Use en dashes for date ranges like 1938-1939. Not required for GA, but it's good to be polished.
  • "a major restorative renovation" Is one of those 2 words redundant?
    • In truth, I don't think so. I think some renovations are not restoring the old but rather constructing the new. Not all renovations are major.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 06:26, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
      • Fair point. Some will involve demolition for example. –Whitehorse1 02:29, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • "In addition to the James...in Branford, there exists a library named...in Blackstone..." Bit stilted.
    • What would you like me to do?--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 13:59, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
      • Changing exists => is, or recasting the sentence is probably what I originally had in mind. We can consider the current phrasing part of your artistic license though, and deem this item addressed. –Whitehorse1 02:29, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Anne Keogh was named branch manager in October 2004." Is naming the current staff excessive detail?
  • Some possible overlinking: 'domed' (x2 as is mural; Tiffany style's unlinked) 'temple' 'lagoon' 'foyer' 'flooring' 'bronze' 'copper'.
    • removed several links. Not sure the rest of the ones you mentioned are unnecessary.
      • "flooring" and "copper" seem plain English words to me. If you'd really rather they stay linked though you have permission to strike this item. The other parts (domed etc) are done. –Whitehorse1 05:13, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • Unsure whether Tiffany style refers to Louis Comfort Tiffany or Tiffany & Co.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 05:02, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
      • Hmm. Okay let's consider the Tiffany part of the above struck through, lest we venture into original research. It's a minor point anyway. –Whitehorse1 05:13, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • "its original [building] cost was $250,000" This is fine, though it's only provided after having already given renovation costs, earlier.
  • "The building's adult reading rooms is equipped" 'reading room' or 'are equipped'.
  • "see map in external links below" Which one? There are two; people are lazy.
  • "Also, parts of Blackstone Avenue south of 53rd Street accommodate two-way traffic." So?
  • "Blackstone Hotel and adjacent Blackstone Theatre ... were also named after Timothy Blackstone, whose mansion had stood on their site" Slight tenses issue here I think. Would it have been their site back when his mansion was on the land?
  • You include a link to Commons, though all 8 pics are already used here. Actually, the article uses 10 - too many? Some, like this one, may have cleanup/info-request tags on them (e.g. "This media has no description" tags). Please check & fix as necessary.
  • Optionally you could mention the mahogany/bronze furnishings & that it's Internet-equipped or wi-fi enabled in the lead.

Update: All that's left for you to look at now is the last 2 items. After that I'm happy to pass this as a continuing Good Article. –Whitehorse1 15:58, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks for the archive help. I had tried a different archive service that did not have the content. I will look at these last two before the weekend.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 16:46, 29 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sterling work. Thank you for all your efforts, TonyTheTiger. I'm pleased to confirm the article as a GA. –Whitehorse1 22:26, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
