Academic performance[edit]

This section was blanked out with the edit reason of "The changes were made in order to reflect the recent hard work of the staff and students at DYCA to achieve some strong and improving results." given. I don't think removing the original criticism is the best way to reflect any improvements in performance, but if there's coverage of some kind that indicates this to be the case I think it'd be a great addition to the page! — 🐻 Nickbear [talk] 16:50, 7 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Specific text to be added or removed: The school's population in January 2008 was 920, with a sixth form of 65.[4] At the same time the school had one of the worst attendance records in the country, and was 25th from the bottom for GCSE results.

In the last full Ofsted inspection of David Young Community Academy inspectors rated it inadequate in all four assessment criteria.[5] Further to this they found that 'Leaders of the school and the academy trust have failed to fulfil legislative requirements relating to safeguarding and to health and safety'.[6]

In a follow up inspection by Ofsted in May 2016 the lead inspector 'strongly recommend[ed] that the academy does not seek to appoint newly qualified teachers', reflecting the poor nature of the school's academic performance.[7]

Is someone able to update the academic performance section of this article please?

Reason for the change: The current academic performance section does not relate to Bishop Young Academy - rather the establishment (now closed) which was on the same site, David Young Community Academy. This is more than just a name change - the entire leadership, and supporting organisation is not linked to DYCA.

Part of an edit requested by an editor with a conflict of interest has been implemented. [see below]

I have updated academic performance with the 2022 results and reference. Attendance info is not out until May 2023. I have also clarified and added refs to the change of name and of trust in 2017. I have not removed the sentence about performance in 2008, but I have marked it as needing a reference and hopefully someone will be able to find one. If necessary we can link to the data in the DfE download, but I'd rather find something more transparent than a spreadsheet; there is likely to have been some local news coverage I would think.
