Passenger service/Amtrak[edit]

I don't know the answer, but I would like to see someone who knows what railroads used this station, to add that to the article and also where the replacement station is located (Amtrak still serves Birmingham). Railroads that served Birmingham at some point include Southern, Illinois Central, Frisco, Louisville and Nashville. I will research this myself and add the information if I can locate it. Meanwhile maybe some Alabama Rail buffs know something about this and might add the information. Frog one (talk) 19:58, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • The Birmingham Terminal Company was formed from 6 of the 7 railroads that served Birmingham at the start of the 20th century (all except L&N, which kept its own station at Morris Avenue). The current Amtrak station (Birmingham, Alabama (Amtrak station)) is a humble little hole-in-the-wall a couple of blocks west of the old L&N station. You can find some references and links at Bhamwiki:Birmingham Terminal Station. Frisco photo[edit]

The Roger Puta photograph captioned here as a Frisco train at Terminal Station is captioned in Wikimedia Commons as being at the Union Station (the former L&N Station), which is a different place. This could be right, though, because as I understand it the Kansas City-Memphis-Birmingham line which Frisco operated was part of the Birmingham Terminal Company. --Dystopos (talk) 22:34, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What a shame[edit]

To think of all the things they could've done with this beautiful building. It's just a damn shame. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 47.138.93.186 (talk) 23:57, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
