Title[edit]

Evidently ...sings His Greatest Hits isn't a complete sentence and isn't a distinct album title. As per Neil Sedaka Sings His Greatest Hits. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:27, 22 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

And yet...

Certainly, the Library of Congress is an excellent source - for the official name. But WP uses all reliable sources in determining the WP:COMMONNAME. And in this case, it looks like more reliable sources use "Sings His Greatest Hits". And please, for the last time - just because an album cover uses an artist's name does not mean that the artist's name is part of the title. Please restore this title and start a proper RM. I have improved this article, given it sources, given it a recognizable title in accordance with sources and provided a cover. There's no reason to treat it differently from the Sedaka or Little Richard albums, and frankly I think you are coming very close to trolling. The reason to treat it differently would be if sources treat it differently. I think it fairly evident that a majority of sources use the shorter name. In addition to the 6 listed above, there's also discogs.com; billboard.com; see also online sellers such as amazon.com and musicstack.com. This compares with the five sources cited by In ictu: the LOC, Billboard, Goldmine catalog, Rolling Stone record guide, and the Big Book of Country Music. No. If all quality sources were consistently treating a compilation subtitle as a title then maybe, but a few lesser sources not repeating "Billy Craddock Billy "Crash" Craddock Sings His Greatest Hits" doesn't mean we should obstruct the reader on this one. We already put a great deal of effort into making finding songs and albums difficult, but to do so here goes beyond WP:DICK to being destructive. In ictu oculi (talk) 07:05, 24 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No need for such emotive language as "destructive". Nothing is being destroyed by discussing which title better suits WP policies. And let me ask - where is your evidence that any readers whatsoever have been led astray in trying to find this article, or had any trouble with the current WP system of primarytopic for songs and albums?
