Apolitical

BKS is supposedly an apolitical organization, and its by-laws indicate that the BKS banner is ochre colour (as opposed to the nearly identical saffron).

Look, in Indian context it is common place that mass organizations of political parties maintain that they are politically neutral. This is the case of the Students Federation of India, the All India Kisan Sabhas the All India Trade Union Congress, etc, and it is apparently the case of BKS as well. It's a pretty shallow thing, thus the usage of the wording 'supposedly' in the edit.

Powers (2008) describes this phenomenon quite well. On one hand the organization is supposedly a broad interest group for farmers, on the other hand the RSS linkage is very evident. She exemplifies this problematic with the issue of the official flag colour, described in the BKS statues as 'ochre' (not 'saffron') but that in practice these colours are virtually the same.

In brief, the article should state that BKS presents itself as an apolitical organization, but at the same time provide detail on the multiple sources that illustrate the linkages with RSS, BJP and Sangh Parivar. As shown in the article text, BKS was set up by RSS and remains aligned with the Sangh Parivar, but that relationships with BJP in government has not been 100% uncomplicated. --Soman (talk) 18:47, 12 February 2020 (UTC)

Soman, please do not WP:edit war while the discussion is on. you have not provided me the exact quote from the source. you cannot write something that you perceived after reading the source and then say it in Wikipedia's voice as you are doing here. Billing itself as the largest Indian farmers' organization, “for the Farmers, by the Farmers and of the Farmers,” the BKS claims no political affiliation but rather purports to be “working solely for the upliftment of the Farmers of India.” [...] Their flag is described as "ochre" in color (saffron?) Soman, I removed the controversial and disputed text for the discussion. Why then did you unilaterally restore it without a consensus? If this behavior is repeated it will be reported. Please familiarize yourself with WP:DR. The source says bks claims itself to be apolitical, you wrote it saying Bks is supposedly apolitical, (in Wikipedia voice) This is problematic DBigXrayᗙ 03:12, 17 February 2020 (UTC)

Soman, Thanks for agreeing. I propose something in line with the source. BKS claims that it does not have any political affiliation. Second concern is about the colour. In line with the source, I propose and its by-laws indicate that the BKS banner is ochre colour (instead of the nearly identical saffron flag used by RSS.) let me know if you have any objections to it.
