Reading the Heechee series[edit]

First, Gateway (novel) (1977) is the classic, multi-award winning, arguably Pohl's finest novel. A major work by any standard. Absolutely not to be missed.

The 2nd, Beyond the Blue Event Horizon, is also very good, but a considerable step down from the opener. Definitely worth reading -- or re-reading, as I'm doing now.

From there -- I've read 'em all, but I think the consensus is, stop until The Boy Who Would Live Forever (2004), his second-last novel. I haven't re-read it, but rated it as "B+, pretty good" in 2005.

This is just one fan's opinion, but a knowledgeable, well-read fan. FWTW, YMMV. ... --Pete Tillman (talk) 21:17, 15 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
