Architectural significance[edit]

Something should be written about the architecture. For instance, in 1998, Page & Turnbull called the building's sgraffito the best work of its kind in Northern California. Binksternet (talk) 23:33, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Construction and opening dates[edit]

There was a IP editor question at the help desk about the construction date of the library.

I have found a small error in your description of the library. In your "history" section, it is listed as opening / relocating to the kittredge location in 1934. The year was 1930 and the opening was in 1931. It is listed correctly in the side / detail section but not in the main text.

I did a little research and it appears that the previous building at the site was demolished in 1930, and the new building designed in 1930. Construction started in 1931 and was completed in 1934. I modified the article to address the construction dates, to best match the available sourcing. There is one discrepancy - the Library of Congress source [[1]] says construction began in 1929. I think this was just when they decided to start with the demolition planning, and filed for a demolition permit. They couldn't have built it if the architectural plans weren't approved until 1930.
