Alumni[edit]

How do you prove someone went to this high school? Wikipedia requires proof, before allowing links. Looks like this relates to Kenneth L. Clarkson. Thanks for your message on my Talk page, too. I'm not getting anywhere with finding a reliable source confirming his attendance at this school, so I think we're stuck, at least for the moment. If the mathematician receives more coverage, interviews perhaps, we may find something we can add in the future. School's Colors, Team names, and inacurate information[edit]

To answer a question that was put on the talk page, the school's colors are Orange and Blue.

The school has two team names, Techmen (for the men) and Techsters (for the women).

Also, the school didn't have a lottery because of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), but some of the North Portland Schools, including their rival, Jefferson, were complaining because Benson was taking "Their best students from the area"

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. Actually, it appears to be the other-way around. Benson (likely the students) copied the Wikipedia text. If you look at the Benson history website, the properties say it was created last November, while much of the Wikipedia text has been around for 7 years. What's more telling is if you compare the 2005 Wikipedia version to the current version, there are some improvements to the Wikipedia article that has largely the same text, but the Benson history website has the newer text from the Wikipedia article. As in it would be odd to copy and paste back in 2005 from the Benson website and then make the same improvements/changes. Some items for comparison: "Benson became co-educational once in September 1973." from the 2005 Wikipedia article, while the current Wikipedia article and Benson site have the "again" added. "An arson's fire destroyed offices and classrooms in the main section of Benson on January 3, 1991." from the 2005 version, while both the current Wikipedia article and Benson site change it to "An arsonist’s fire". Further, the Wayback machine has no captures of the Benson History site (well it didn't until I tried to check older versions which made it do a capture then), so I think it is safe to say that is a fairly new page (though maybe just a new URL). Also, older versions of Benson's overall site have links to the Wikipedia article. Aboutmovies (talk) 08:23, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
