Merge proposal[edit]

Lane End, Isle of Wight is moderately pointless, and as its creator admits, is unlikely to ever be expanded beyond a stub. As it is a suburb of Bembridge (or is it even that) I suggest that it be merged into this article. --Peeky44 (talk) 00:29, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The following discussion is an archived discussion of the proposal as originally found at Talk: Lane End, Isle of Wight. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.

This article is as a result of Lane End being listed on the IOW villages & hamlets. It is a suburb of a village which consists mostly of one road. There is little else to say.Streona 21:15, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fairly pointless article if you ask me. As no more can be said, I'd suggest it's merged with Bembridge. See Talk:Bembridge.--Peeky44 (talk) 00:30, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, although you can get some bargain garden furniture at the Co Op. I got mine after it washed up at Yaverland after a storm. --Streona (talk) 12:34, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good. I would agree with the merge too. Editor5807speak 18:36, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It seems consensus was reached, so I'm merging the content from the Lane End article into this one. Both needed a good amount of work done to get them up to scratch anyway... --Peeky44 (talk) 21:11, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New Image[edit]

It might be good to have a new image for the article since the Lifeboat station as shown has been replaced now. --Neil (talk) 17:36, 7 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. I've got a few of the construction of the new lifeboat station to upload although haven't managed to get over to Bembridge in a while to take one of it completed. Hopefully I will soon, and I'll upload it for the article. Editor5807speak 21:43, 7 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a new image of the lifeboat station from my holiday snaps. If you have something better feel free to replace it. AlisonDavey (talk) 08:47, 31 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Date became a Civil Parish, and the parent parish[edit]

Any changes in territorial names and boundaries are very important for those of us who do genealogy (e.g where was 2nd great grandpa John Doe born?). Yet, so many Wiki articles omit such information. Many Wiki articles in the US now place the settlement date and the township incorporation date in the right top box. According to GENUKI, Bembridge became a civil parish when separated from Brading parish at the beginning of April 1896. Brading was an "original" civil parish formed in July 1837. 76.218.100.214 (talk) 05:53, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
