WikiProject class rating[edit]

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 20:40, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The bay cat photo[edit]

The article says there are no bay cats in captivity. It has a photo of a bay cat in captivity and says zoos are paying to acquire them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.234.44.10 (talk) 01:55, 8 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The photo was taken in 2005 by Jim Sanderson in Borneo. See the referenced article by Mohd-Azlan and Sanderson (2007) "Geographic distribution and conservation status of the bay cat Catopuma badia, a Bornean endemic", in which they write: "A local animal collector near Lachau, Sarawak, claimed that he accidentally trapped two bay cats on separate occasions in December 2003. He reported that the bay cats entered his aviary and attacked his pheasants. The first caught, a female, died in captivity and its carcass was disposed of in an undisclosed location. We observed the male (record no. 1, Table 1; Plate 1). In late 2005 the collector, fearing local authorities would confiscate the cat, released it at an unknown location." -- BhagyaMani (talk) 12:20, 8 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wildlife Reserve in Kalimantan[edit]

The article said "Although Borneo supposedly has 25 wildlife reserves, only three are actually in existence, with the others only proposed." This is certainly not true, as there are 8 fully functional national park in Indonesian side of Borneo and some more in Malaysia and Brunei. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cendrawasih14 (talkcontribs) 16:23, 2 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Either way this needs sources. The number of wildlife reserves in Borneo should be a matter of record that can be cited. If you can point us in the right direction for sources then the edits can be made. If there is no source for the statement it should be removed. —  Jts1882 | talk  19:43, 2 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Should have checked the article first. BhagyaMani removed the statement as it was unsourced. It would still be an improvement if there was something to say about the number of wildlife reserves. —  Jts1882 | talk  19:46, 2 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You mean reserves in general, or those where it has been recorded? -- BhagyaMani (talk) 20:21, 2 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

fix content[edit]

Hello BhagyaMani! I was wondering if you could let me know if you had any specific issues with the content I have been adding recently. I am working on a project for class and would just like to know how I can improve this article and fix my content. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jar07016 (talkcontribs) 01:57, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I do not have an issue with the content. But you apparently did not notice that your refs keep producing ref errors. And then, some of the refs are already present and named. Therefore I suggest you 1) first check the section containing the list of references instead of duplicating those already present and 2) preview before you publish new content. – BhagyaMani (talk) 08:37, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I wonder why all the valuable information added to this article got deleted. For example, the content added to the conservation section by Jar07016 was so valuable not only for readers but also for the species. Salamandra2021 (talk) 17:58, 29 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The section on conservation contains info about national + international laws to protect the species + about projects to mitigate threats + about breeding programmes in zoos. But 3 paragraphs on predictive modelling are off topic of this section.– BhagyaMani (talk) 07:56, 30 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Spoken Version of Article[edit]

There is a request for a spoken version of the article, so I am going to record it now. I did not find any errors during copyediting. 0101Abc (talk) 21:07, 10 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
