Unknown Object[edit]

In some of the film in this series German soldiers often carry an about 7 inch diameter, 18 inch long cylinder. Could someone identify this object and describe its' purpose? Thanks! Please post your answer here. Chad brackmann 00:40, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No, that's not it. The head of the panzerfaust is cone shaped and it has a long thin straight handle (maybe 3 feet or a little less and maybe 2 inch in diameter). I'm talking about a metal box with a lid on it. It is a pure cylinder of the dimensions I typed above. Running parallel to the axis of the cylinder, the wall of the cylinder side had groves (probably corrigation for strength). It was worn on the lower back with a shoulder strap and it was used to store something, perhaps food, personal effects or medical supplies, I guess. The panzerfaust was usually carried on top of the shoulder.

I am still looking for the answer to exactly what this was and what was carried inside. Chad brackmann 23:37, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Series 4?[edit]

The article currently has two sections for season 4. One is DVD the other VHS release. However, they have different titles. Are the episodes found in the VHS season 4 released on DVD under different names? I regard this as an exceptional documentary series. I recall watching the first season on PBS and recently was fortunate enough to purchase it at a second-hand store.

The only technical critique I can make regards the battle of Midway. Apparently an editor did not understand the difference between millimeter and caliber (calibre), and in the subtitles discussing equipment stated that several US planes were armed with .5 mm guns. (.50 caliber (stated as "fifty caliber") would have been correct). Production Information[edit]

This series is produced by Cromwell Productions of the UK and may have been shown on PBS but there is no association with the production and PBS that I can find. Both commentators are also British (excluding series 3). The production staff have worked mostly yon British productions. The British Film Institute lists Battlefield Vietnam (series 3) as a UK production. I cannot find a BFI listing for "Battlefield". Could this show in fact be British and not American?

This Wikipedia article shows the first aired year as 1994, while IMDB shows S1E1 was first broadcast on January 19, 1995. While the DVD release shows Polycom (C) 1994 at the end of the first episode. I suspect it was ready in late 1994 but not shown until 1995 but I have no evidence of this. Which is it? Thedoctor916 (talk) 00:06, 27 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
