German name[edit]

It doesn't matter who fought it, the German name is simply never used in English, so there is no need to inform an English reader what it is. If they are interested they can go to the German WP. We might as well include the French name. Srnec (talk) 03:05, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

From WP:UE, "The native spelling of a name should generally be included in the first line of the article, with a transliteration if the anglicization isn't identical; redirects from non-English names are encouraged". Considering how infrequently this battle has been mentioned in English publications, I see nothing wrong with mentioning how it is known in German. Numerous other battles have non-English names mentioned in the introduction; this is the first opposition that I have encountered. Although discussing military units and not battles, WP:MILMOS#UNITNAME advises including native names as well. Olessi (talk) 13:55, 3 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
